The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau (Austin CVB) in partnership with the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and Brand USA have created The Austin Garden to be featured at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, in the United Kingdom (UK), July 5-10th.http://eng.taiwan.net.tw/

“We’re excited to showcase a prominent Austin area visitor attraction,” said Julie Chase, Austin CVB Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “The opportunity to showcase our native landscapes and architecture provides inspiration for our visitor’s next vacations.”

The Austin Garden was designed by Sadie May Stowell, landscape architect in the United Kingdom. It is inspired by the landscapes at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, which features Central Texas standards such as granite, gravel, limestone, sandstone, and plants, grasses, and wildflowers native to the Texas Hill Country. An integrated water conservation feature – a carved limestone basin with small bubblers – will also be showcased.

“Austin’s beautiful environment straddles the prairie to the east and the hilly Edward’s Plateau to the west,” said Lee Clippard, Director of Communications for the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. “Many of our city’s gardens reflect a sense of place provided by our native plants and cultural history. Every region in the world has a unique palette of native plants and materials that can be celebrated through our landscapes and gardens.”

The RHS, more than 200 years old, is the world’s largest gardening charity with 420,000 members. The first RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, held in 1993, has gone on to become the world’s largest flower show. An average of 160,000 people attend the show every year.
