On Thursday 14 November, The CEO Magazine hosted a very special awards evening – The 2019 Executive of the Year Awards – to celebrate and honour the remarkable success of the leading people in Australia’s major business industries. This year, a phenomenal group of guests in attendance were friends of Gina Rinehart (Lifetime Achievement Award winner, and Energy and Resources Executive of the Year) – including Australian Olympic gold medallist swimmers Mack Horton and Emma McKeon. “Having some of Australia’s most notable Olympic athletes attend as guests of Gina was incredible. It was extraordinary having such a scope of Australia’s best talents represented on the night,” says Susan Armstrong, Content Director of The CEO Magazine.

“A highlight of the evening involved one of Australia’s Olympic swimming greats – Kieren Perkins,” recalls Chris Dutton, CEO and Founder of The CEO Magazine. “The four-time Olympic medallist won the silent auction, which raised funds for the Children’s Cancer Institute. After an $11,000 bid, Perkins took home The Dalmore 35-year-old whisky, which was one of only two bottles within Australia!” The 2019 Executive of the Year Awards took place at The Palladium at Crown, Melbourne, and had a spectacular calibre of attendees. One of the main highlights on the night was when David Hackett of MLC Life Insurance took out the major award and was declared CEO of the Year, and Executive Chairman of Hancock Prospecting Gina Rinehart was awarded The CEO Magazine’s inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award.
