Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) last week hosted a group of six Australian wholesalers to experience a four night familiarisation trip, to coincide with the three day Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE) in Nairobi.
Participants had the choice of several itineraries which all showcased the diverse landscapes, experiences and product offerings available to Australian travellers. The majority of the Australian group opted for two nights in Laikipia where they experienced five star luxury at The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille.
Whilst in Laikipia, the group visited a local village for a raw cultural experience, enjoyed morning game walks and evening sundowners over the open plains.
The group then flew to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve where they enjoyed two unforgettable nights at Mara Expedition Camp. As always, the Masai Mara provided fantastic game viewing including from above, in a hot air balloon ride before relaxing over lunch at Mahali Mzuri (Sir Richard Branson’s property).
KTB Australian representative Bart Druitt said MKTE is the perfect opportunity for Aussie wholesalers to meet with the industry; develop and expand their current Kenya product offering and experience the destination firsthand through KTB’s pre-famil program.
“Kenya offers visitors an array of experiences, including spotting the big five on safari; hiking Mount Kenya, Africa’s second highest mountain; authentic cultural encounters and relaxing beach breaks.”
“Feedback from this year’s MKTE has been outstanding and our wholesalers have come away with a renewed enthusiasm for Kenya and a range of potential product offerings. We hope these wholesalers go out there and encourage more Aussies to experience Kenya in the near future,” he said.
