Leading flight comparison site Skyscanner has found that 57% of Australians would choose to travel non-stop to Europe and avoid stopovers in their latest survey this week.

The results come following the news that in the next three years Turkish Airlines will launch non-stop flights from Australia in to Istanbul*. Offering an easy gateway in to Europe, the flight will cover a lengthy 14, 956km.

Respondents were asked if they would choose to fly non-stop from Australia to Europe even it meant flying for over 18 hours. 57% of those surveyed said they would prefer to take the fastest route, 23% said they would choose whatever is cheapest while only 20% said they would prefer to have a stopover to stretch their legs.

Many travellers were vocal in their responses with one participant commenting: “Yes, I’m travelling to Turkey at the end of the year and more travel options are very welcome”

Skyscanner Market Development Manager for Australia, Dave Boyte commented:

“Airline travel is fast becoming more competitive with more in-flight improvements and flights getting cheaper so it was only a matter of time before direct non-stop flights to Europe were introduced, now let’s just hope their in-flight entertainment will keep passengers sane!”
