Building on its ongoing promotion of the Solomon Islands in the Australia and New Zealand markets, the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau in partnership with Solomon Airlines has staged a major tourism product update for key wholesale partners in both countries.
While in Honiara the group consisting of senior product managers participated in a mini-travel mart at the Heritage Park Hotel where they had the opportunity to meet with their local counterparts.
These included local hotel and resort management from across the Solomon Islands plus a number of inbound tour operators, transport providers and culturally oriented tour companies.
The group also visited Gizo in the destination’s Western Province region.
The product managers’ visit builds on the ongoing activity both national tourist office and airline have been undertaking this year in Queensland, New South Wales and Auckland including the staging of major industry road shows and attendance at several high profile consumer and travel trade events.
Applauding the outcome of the product managers visit, SIVB CEO, Josefa ‘Jo’ Tuamoto said he was confident both the product update and relationship building would pay dividends for the destination in 2016.5.
’’This year we have set an international visitation target of 25,000 staying an average length of 15 days, the bulk of which we expect to see come from Australia and New Zealand gaand ” he said.
“We are being very direct in what we see we need to do in order to attract more visitation and one of the key objectives has been to further impress upon our industry colleagues in both countries the ever-building appeal the Solomon Islands offers.
“We must continue to do everything we can to propel our country’s tourism fortunes into the future and this week’s event is a solid example of how we plan to achieve our goals.”
