“Residents of NSW keep the Yuraygir National Park a closely guarded secret and it’s really no wonder when you discover its spectacular beaches and the relaxed charm and character of its coastal villages.

It’s truly unforgettable” says Monica Coleman chief architect of this new trip. The best time to walk has been chosen to avoid the heat and the crowds. Departing in May 2015, this trip is for those adventurous people who love their coastal walking235132_num754836_600x600

Our journey begins at Iluka and Yamba, two settlements that hug either side of the majestic Clarence River. Cruise across by ferry. Then it’s on to the Yuraygir Coastal Walk that links together the picturesque villages of Angourie, Brooms Head, Sandon River, Minnie Water, Wooli and Red Rock.

Expect a variety of experiences including coastal hiking, littoral rainforests, paperbark swamps, colourful heathlands, crystal clear creeks and lagoons and spectacular rock platforms. Graceful pandanus trees line the picture-perfect beaches on the longest stretch of protected coastline in NSW. Opportunities for swimming abound and you can also try canoeing at Wooli.

The coast is punctuated with splendid rivers making access difficult but we have arranged for boats to take us safely across them. Cruise down the Wooli Wooli River, learning about the region’s well established oyster farming. It’s one of the only areas in Australia that is able to direct harvest its oysters as the waters are so clean. You’ll get to taste some of the oysters.

The trip finishes in Coffs Harbour with a beach walk to the vibrant jetty and walk around Muttonbird Island. The 6 day trip departs on the 25th of May 2015, priced at $2195.

Auswalk organises walking holidays to over 28 destinations around Australia and is in its 20th year.
