Hotel Eden – Rome

Dorchester Group Limited has recently acquired Hotel Eden in Rome. Originally built in 1834 and converted to a hotel in 1889, Hotel Eden is one of Rome’s most celebrated hotels. img1The property will undergo a careful restoration to enhance the heritage of the building and to reposition the hotel at the forefront of the luxury hotel market in keeping with Dorchester Collection’s portfolio. The timing and scale of this restoration are still being considered.

Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize

In its fourth consecutive year, the Grand Final of the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize will take place at The Dorchester on 29 October 2013. The four shortlisted candidates are Barbara Casasola, Fyodor Golan, Emilia Wickstead and Huishan Zhang. The finalists were selected, by a panel of celebrity judges, from a collection of designers of ready-to-wear, couture and accessories based in all countries where Dorchester Collection properties are located: UK, France, Switzerland, Italy and USA. Supporting young talent and assisting aspiring fashion designers to take their brand to the next level, Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize provides international recognition and an endowment of £25,000 to the winner.

Dorchester Collection Website

Dorchester Collection has unveiled its newly redesigned website, bringing all ten individual hotels together under its brand domain, mirroring how Dorchester Collection collates landmarks of individuality under one umbrella. The new website is easily navigable and allows guests to book all Dorchester Collection properties from one central point through five clear steps, simplifying the entire booking process. Created in a magazine-style format, the site includes links to various social media platforms and highlights the hotels’ destinations, providing guests with a virtual concierge service conveying ‘What’s On’, ‘What’s Hot’, and ‘What’s New’, in each location. The online reservation system gives access to all hotel outlets including restaurants and spas.

The Dorchester


The Dorchester is the setting for the opening scene of new James Bond novel ‘Solo’ by international bestselling author, William Boyd, in which 007 is described as treating himself to a 45th birthday breakfast at The Grill in 1969. Until 30 November, guests quoting ‘Solo’ whilst making a breakfast reservation at The Dorchester will receive a copy of the novel or can choose to listen to the audio version read by British actor Dominic West on an iPod over breakfast.

For the full ‘Solo’ experience guests can stay the night at The Dorchester just like James Bond.  By requesting ‘007 room service’, guests will be provided with the full library set of the Ian Fleming Bond Collection, a copy of ‘Solo’ with an accompanying martini nightcap. Martini master classes are also provided at The Bar at The Dorchester by expert alchemist bar manager Giuliano Morandin, who joined the hotel over 30 years ago. ‘Breakfast with Bond’ is priced at £32 and once a week, a table will be chosen at random to be charged the Grill menu’s 1969 price, a sum short of £2. The Martini nightcap is priced at £14.

Coworth Park

img3Dorchester Collection’s luxury country house hotel in Ascot, welcomes the seasonal change with their Autumnal Sunday Feasts. A traditional Sunday lunch served in the relaxed luxury of Restaurant Coworth Park’s private conservatory overlooking the hotel grounds, with poultry and game expertly carved by executive chef Brian Hughson at guests’ tables. Prices start at £65 per person and guests will need to provide a minimum of 48 hours notice.

For post-summer sun pampering, the award-winning eco-luxury Spa at Coworth Park has introduced luxury spa brand Valmont’s ‘Vitality of the Glaciers’ revitalising facial to its repertoire of indulgent spa treatments following the success of the spa brand’s presence at The Dorchester Spa in London and Spa Valmont at Le Meurice in Paris. Prices for a 60-minute treatment start from £150 and a 90-minute treatment costs from £210.

45 Park Lane

img4Dorchester Collection’s contemporary Mayfair hotel, 45 Park Lane, has joined forces with Rolls-Royce to offer guests of the Penthouse Suite a spin in the luxury car manufacturer’s newest model, Wraith. Guests booking the Penthouse Suite will be able to take the Wraith for an exhilarating half day drive experience during their stay, available from 1 November 2013. Bar 45 has also created a special Wraith cocktail, mixed with ingredients that conjure the Wraith experience. A choice of three different varieties of ‘speeds’, ranging from Rémy Martin Cognac  VSOP, Coeur de Cognac and XO, all offer degrees of intensity, flavour and finish. Rates for the Wraith Service start from £7,194 and the cocktails range from £16 to £50. To request the Wraith Service while staying in the Penthouse Suite guests should contact and quote their confirmation number.

From 1 November, Bar 45 at 45 Park Lane will introduce a Thanksgiving cocktail which will change flavour through an ice infusion of nutmeg, clove and cinnamon to create a sweet tasting martini, and will be priced at £16. On 28 November, CUT at 45 Park Lane will introduce a three course Thanksgiving dinner menu with staples such as pumpkin soup, roast turkey, Red Jewell sweet potato gratin with toasted pecans, and puddings such as Bourbon Pecan Pie. The menu is £90 per person.

Le Meurice

img5Le Meurice has invited Alain Ducasse to take over the management of the hotel’s kitchens. Ducasse leads the team at the hotel’s 18th century style gastronomic restaurant and oversee the contemporary Le Dalí restaurant where the spirit of the infamous surrealist is seen throughout the artistic décor. Further enhancing this Parisian landmark, Ducasse brings his innovative vision and distinctive take on contemporary French haute cuisine, exemplifying his philosophy of focusing on the essence of the product whilst continually seeking both simplicity and generosity.

The 2013 Meurice Prize for contemporary art final took place at Le Meurice on 7 October 2013 and was awarded to Neil Beloufa, represented by the Galerie Balice & Hertling, for his project ‘Les Arabes et les services’. The prize was created in 2008 to nurture up-and-coming talent and carries an endowment of €20,000 in order to support the winning artist on an

ever-competitive international stage. The high profile panel of international judges from the world of art includes the winner of last year’s prize, Alexandre Singh, and Franka Holtmann, general manager of Le Meurice. Neil Beloufa’s installation will be exhibited in 2014 at the Film Centre Building in New York.

Throughout the autumn, a cookie of the month created by head pastry chef, Cédric Grolet, continues to be available at Le Dali restaurant. In addition, from 13 November to 13 December 2013, a total of 30 different flavoured cookies will be added to the menu as part of the hotel’s ‘Cookie Festival’, and guests will be able to take home a selection of their favourite flavours.

Hôtel Plaza Athénée

img6Having now closed to undergo a partial restoration in order to integrate three additional buildings, Hôtel Plaza Athénée invites guests to celebrate the hotel’s vibrant spirit with a series of parties and a five day exhibition on the hotel’s history at the end of the year.

Three ‘Swing ’n’ Relais’ nights will take place on a boat upon The Seine hosted by Le Relais Plaza’s restaurant manager Werner Küchler, who has famously serenaded guests dining in his restaurant for the last 35 years with songs by Frank Sinatra, Yves Montand and other great jazz classics from that period. A four course menu will be served.

From 29 November to 3 December a five-day ‘Red Plaza’ exhibition in partnership with Maison Parisienne will be held. ‘Red Plaza’ will look back at the hotel’s history and will present iconic objects from the hotel’s lobby, bar, Galerie des Gobelins and bedrooms, as well as numerous masterpieces that the hotel has collected over the last century. During these five days, guests will have the opportunity to rediscover the hotel’s history before it reopens its doors in spring 2014.

Le Richemond

Le Richemond in Geneva will re-launch its Ski Tea to welcome the forthcoming ski season. Regional gruyère flavoured scones and sandwiches are served with steaming mugs of hot chocolate made with local Swiss chocolate, marshmallow filled coconut snowballs and chocolate fondue. The Ski Tea is priced from 50 CHF per person.

Le Richemond has further developed its relaxation experience by introducing acclaimed French skincare brand Sisley to its spa. With a total of five treatments room, including a double room with a private hammam, Switzerland’s first Le Spa by Sisley offers guests renowned face and body treatments based on aromachology: the science of relaxing body and mind through the use of fragrance. Le Spa also includes a treatment room specially designed for Thai massages, which cannot be found anywhere else in Geneva.

Hotel Principe di Savoia

This autumn, Hotel Principe di Savoia, will offer a four day Truffle Tasting Package where guests can experience a morning of truffle hunting in the neighbouring Piedmont region, home to the finest Italian truffles. Additionally, guests will be invited to dine at the Osteria dell’Arco restaurant for a three course lunch and enjoy complimentary entrance into the Club 10 Fitness and Beauty Center. The package is available until 30 November 2013 and is priced from €555 (approx. £468).

The Milanese property further embraces its idyllic surroundings with the new Wine Tasting package. Chef Sommelier Alessandra Veronesi offers exclusive wine tastings for guests staying at Hotel Principe di Savoia, providing them with a unique city break in Milan and the opportunity to discover the nearby Piedmont region. Guests can travel through the traditional villages and witness the family ethos of the top wineries in the area, as well as savouring the haute cuisine of Lombardy. The Wine Tasting package is available until 30 November 2013 and priced from €539 (approx. £454) per room per night. 

The Beverly Hills Hotel

Steeped in Hollywood history, The Beverly Hills Hotel is heralding the future with a restoration led by Tihany Design, taking place in phased stages between now and summer 2014. The hotel lobby and The Polo Lounge have recently been enhanced and the guest rooms and suites are currently being refreshed. Having just completed a restoration of its Cabana Café and private pool cabanas, the beloved ‘Pink Palace’ provides a new generation of guests with modern day luxuries in a setting reflective of Hollywood’s golden age.

To celebrate being in the heart of the LA action and under the Californian sun, The Beverly Hills Hotel is offering a ‘California Cruisin’ package whereby an array of sought after automobiles will be readily available for guests to enjoy cruising around Los Angeles during their stay. The various cars will include a C-Class Mercedes, E350 Mercedes Sedan, a Range Rover and a Ferrari for those staying in the Presidential Suite. Priced from $880 (about £548) per night including car rental and nightly valet parking, reservations must be booked three days in advance with a minimum stay of two nights. The ‘California Cruisin’ package is also available from $680 (about £423) at Hotel Bel-Air.   

Hotel Bel-Air

Hotel Bel-Air is paying homage to its once loyal guest, princess, actress and fashion icon Grace Kelly, by introducing the Graceful Living package in line with the film release of ‘Grace of Monaco’ this December. The Graceful Living package includes accommodation in the Grace Kelly suite, two speciality cocktails including the ‘Country Girl’ and the ‘Swan’, as well as Princess Facial at Spa by La Prairie. The package is available from 1 December 2013 to 3 March 2014 and is priced from $3,250 per night.

With its intimate surroundings and secluded location, the hotel provides the perfect romantic setting for any special occasion. This autumn, Hotel Bel-Air is offering a private candlelight dinner for two where guests can choose three courses from the menu offered at Wolfgang Puck restaurant and select a premium bottle of wine or champagne. The team at the hotel will arrange a romantic dinner on the private guestroom patio, complete with candlelight. The dinner is priced from $280 for two people.

Two of the world’s most celebrated chefs, Wolfgang Puck and Daniel Boulud, will come together to create a one-of-a-kind dinner experience at Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air on 23 October 2013. This will be the first time these master chefs have worked one-on-one in the kitchen together, and will mark the celebration of Chef Boulud launching his cookbook, DANIEL: My French Cuisine (Grand Central Life & Style, 2013) and the 20th anniversary of his flagship restaurant, DANIEL.  The menu is priced at $220 (approx £137) per person, excluding beverage, tax and gratuity. Optional wine pairing from the acclaimed Ca’ del Bosco Winery in Lombardy, Italy, is available for an additional $85 (approx. £53).
