Award winning travel agent joins Avis Advisory Board

Avis Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Hoffmann Travel’s award-winning General Manager, Michelle McNamara – recipient of this year’s NTIA ‘Best Travel Agency Manager – Retail’ honour – to the Avis Travel Agent Advisory Board.

Avis Advisory Board member Michelle_McNamara_July14Established in 1995, the Advisory Board provides Avis with guidance and advice on ways to maximise its relationship with the broader travel industry and in particular its highly-valued travel agency partners.

The Board also assists with the ongoing development and promotion of the Avis Travel Agent Scholarship, the industry most enduring and prestigious award.

Michelle, a former winner of the coveted Scholarship, joins three of Avis Australia’s senior managers on the Board, along with eight representatives from the country’s largest leisure networks, leading corporate travel companies and the wholesale travel sector.

Avis National Travel Industry Manager Russell Butler says Michelle is an important addition to the Board.

“Michelle joined Phil Hoffmann Travel as a junior consultant in 1997, and her talent and commitment have been rewarded with a senior management position in what is undoubtedly one of Australia’s most successful travel companies,” says Butler.

“Along the way Michelle has collected some extraordinary honours, not least of which was the 2003 Avis Travel Agent Scholarship.

“Her insight and experience will ensure the Advisory Board remains one of the travel industry most vital and respected bodies.”

Travel agents hoping to win the 2014 Avis Travel Agent Scholarship have until 31 July to submit an application. This year’s winner will receive a range of educational and travel-related prizes valued in excess of $40,000, including:

  • two return Qantas Airways Business Class airfares to New York
  • six nights’ accommodation in Manhattan and seven days’ car rental from Avis
  • a scholarship to study at Southern Cross University with financial support of up to $8,000**
  • training modules from the Cruise Lines International Australasia
  • a Polonious Resources Personal Profile, Feedback Session and on-call personal/professional coaching for 12 months
  • two tickets to the 2015 NTIA Gala Dinner in Sydney (return flights, overnight accommodation and return limousine transfers)
