A striking example of a “go-around” – the manoeuvre in which a pilot deliberately cancels a landing attempt and goes around for another try – is catching a lot of interest on YouTube.
The plane concerned is a British Airways A380 The video captures it approaching the runway at Vancouver International Airport. The giant aircraft’s 22 tyres come literally within a few metres of the surface of the tarmac when the plane powers up, lifts and heads around for another go.
The plane landed normally shortly afterwards.
