AXA ART celebrates “Corporate Collecting – Today” AXA ART looks at history and trends in Corporate Collecting during the Art Basel show in Hong Kong 2014

From banks to multi-national corporations, many of the world’s top companies have integrated works of art into their workplace and have built impressive collections over the years, some of great historical importance.

From art patronage and pure aesthetics, to stimulating intellectual curiosity among employees and promoting client engagement, some established corporations cite a myriad of reasons for their role in curating and amassing impressive prized collections.

A relatively new phenomenon in Asia, a panel presentation at the Maritime Museum during the Art Basel show in Hong Kong examines how young companies in Asia are contributing to a new paradigm for corporate collecting. The discussion will be centred on where corporate collecting is headed in Asia and the role and influence of young commerce and wealth in helping to drive corporate collections in Asian markets today.

To augment the discussions and bring focus to the topic, AXA ART has invited curators from established corporate collections around the world to contribute photographs of their art collections for a presentation at its booth. Their demonstrations offer insights on the effects of corporate collecting in the workplace; and how trends in corporate collecting have and continue to contribute to the growth and the understanding of art in Asia.

Anthony Osborn, AXA ART’s Managing Director in Hong Kong, acknowledged that “A passion for, understanding, and appreciation of art are fundamental to AXA ART’s business. We are pleased to collaborate with corporations who continue to exhibit a love for art patronage and corporate collecting around the world, including those with visuals of their collections on display in our lounge at Art Basel, such as UBS, Daimler, Today Art Museum, Renault, Long Museum, Hong Kong Land and others.  We are grateful for their cooperation in helping to bring attention to this important trend in corporate art collecting”.

AXA ART invites you to experience some of these exciting global collections at its VIP Lounge during Art Basel. In addition to its Corporate Collecting Today themed lounge, AXA ART continues to offer guided tours of the Hong Kong show to VIPs of the fair (for VIP Cardholders only).
