BA bursts onto the wacky safety video scene

July 24, 2017 Headline News 2 Comments Email Email

Air New Zealand has built an international reputation for offbeat, zany air safety videos but British Airways has just launched a new, star-studded challenger in a bid to take the safety-vid crown.

The BA safety show stars everyone from Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson) to celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

BA made its new video in collaboration with Comic Relief and will screen it in flight from 1 September 2017. It shows various celebs auditioning in humorous sketches in front of comedian Asim Chaudhry, as Chabuddy G, for a coveted part in British Airways’ new safety video, while simultaneously demonstrating the safety features and procedures on the aircraft.

The line-up includes: Oscar-nominated star Chiwetel Ejiofor  (renowned for his portrayal of Solomon Northup in 12 Years a Slave), chef Gordon Ramsay, Thandie Newton, Ian McKellen, Gillian Anderson – and finally Mr Bean, celebrated around the world, fumbling around his seat for loose change to make a donation to the airline’s Flying Start initiative.
