BAC congratulates airline partners

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) CEO and Managing Director, Julieanne Alroe, has today congratulated Cathay Pacific on being named the ‘World’s Best Airline’ in the 2014 Skytrax World Airline Awards.

Cathay Pacific becomes the only airline in the world to have been awarded the prestigious title four times, having taken the title in 2003, 2005 and 2009.

Cathay Pacific is the leading airline among five others that fly to Brisbane Airport, who were named amongst the top 10 airlines in the world for 2014.

Contributing to a superior network and product for travellers, Cathay Pacific shares the accolades with Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Garuda Indonesia and Etihad Airways, which were also named in the top 10 airlines and offer services to and from Brisbane Airport.

Ms Alroe said the awards were a deserved recognition and a tribute to each airline’s efforts to provide the very best possible service and product to travellers from across the world.

“We’re very proud to work closely with Cathay Pacific, a partnership that has spanned more than 32 years, along with the other highly awarded airlines who share the same vision as us to offer the highest levels of customer.

“Earlier in the year Brisbane Airport was named the third “World’s Best Airport” serving 20-30 million passengers by Skytrax, ahead of all other British, American and Australasian airports in this category, and we’re proud to be host to five of the top 10 airlines in the world,” Ms Alroe said.

The top 10 airlines in the world were named: 

  1. Cathay Pacific
  2. Qatar Airways
  3. Singapore Airlines
  4. Emirates
  5. Turkish Airlines
  6. ANA All Nippon Airways
  7. Garuda Indonesia
  8. Asiana Airlines
  9. Etihad Airways
  10. Lufthansa

Qantas was also announced ‘Best Airline Australia-Pacific’, with Virgin Australia coming in second, while Jetstar won ‘Best Low Cost Airline Australia-Pacific’, adding to the premium offering of carrier’s that Brisbane Airport provides Queensland travellers. Virgin Australia also took out the Best Airline Staff Service category for this region, with Qantas coming in second. 

The Skytrax World Airline Awards and World Airport Awards are the most prestigious accolades for the aviation industry, voted by over 18 million customers from over 100 countries. The survey and awards process is totally independent and guaranteed free of any airline or airport influence and interference in final results.
