Hong Kong’s first Venetian bacaro concept, SEPA: Bacaro Veneziano, launches a seasonal menu of tantalising Venetian fare, curated by Italy’s youngest two Michelin-starred Chef, Enrico Bartolini.  Embracing the concept of “cicheti” (bite-sized expressions of Venetian culinary landscape), the new dishes are designed to be enjoyed with SEPA’s existing repertoire of signature dishes, which has already earned the bacaro a special spot in Hong Kong foodies’ hearts.

As an outstanding young talent, Chef Bartolini started his career in Italy.  This stint was followed by overseas exposure at distinguished restaurants in France, UK and Germany, where he worked with professional gourmet chefs, including top Italian Chef Massimiliano Alajmo.  His intuition, creativity, reliability, ambition, combined with a great passion for his work, have fostered his growth in the industry and earned him worldwide recognition.

Currently holding two Michelin stars, Chef Bartolini received his first Michelin star at the age of 30 andearned the honour of being the youngest chef in Italy to have attained two Michelin stars at 33 years old. In 2014, he was also awarded the ubiquitous title of “Greatest Chef China – Italian Edition” by CCTV–2, China’s leading business TV channel.

At SEPA, Chef Bartolini keeps diners in Hong Kong enthralled by regularly updating SEPA’s selection of cicheti dishes, bringing innovative and unique Venetian flavours and tastes to the city.  His most recent visit saw the introduction of several new dishes, which are exclusive in Hong Kong, and were especially created to complement the arrival of Spring.

An enticing array of indulgent dishes will be featured by SEPA as part of its special Spring offerings, for example, Seabass Carpaccio with Zucchini, Mint, and Roasted Lemon (HK$128) and Raw Tuna with Smoked Grapefruit sauce (HK$138).  Both dishes perfectly complement the seasonal change in Hong Kong and will provide diners with a refreshing epicurean experience.

As part of the gourmet experience, diners can also enjoy innovative cicheti featuring traditional Venetian recipes and ingredients, such as Garusoli and Jerusalem Artichoke (HK$98), which will take guests on a memorable gourmet journey to the canals of Venice.  Moreover, diners can also relish SEPA’s Venetian-Rosti (HK$138), which features fried soft-shell crab, a seasonal Venetian treat.

The quintessential Italian cheese also makes an appearance, with a modern twist – the Burrata, Eggplant and Nduja ‘Bomba’ (HK$128) marries mozzarella with a spicy spreadable Italian pork sausage in a heavenly match.

SEPA’s degustation menu, priced at HK$600 (10-courses), is also given a seasonal makeover, showcasing a creative culinary combination of new dishes and much-loved signatures — a perfect way to savour a myriad of Chef Bartolini ‘s gourmet dishes.

SEPA’s new special set lunch menu will also be launched, available during weekdays.  The set lunch menu offers two appetising alternatives featuring decadent Venetian cuisine, which will change regularly, to reflect the availability of fresh and seasonal ingredients.  The inaugural “Menù Di Smeraldina” set lunch (HK$118) includes Venetian Salad and Mezze Maniche with Tomato Sauce; whilst the “Menù Di Truffaldino” set lunch (HK$138) features Chickpea Soup and Focaccia with Mortadella.  Guests with a sweet-tooth can also choose to enjoy SEPA’s signature Italian dessert of the day at the additional price of HK$50.  Select Italian wine (HK$60 per glass) is also available to complement the lunch experience.

During lunch hours, SEPA’s a-la-carte menu will also be available – showcasing contemporary renditions of classic Venetian dishes with a focus on traditional ingredients.  Guests can experience Venetian gourmet “cicheti” such as Sea Urchin Spaghetti, Beef Carpaccio with Black Truffle, Bone Marrow, Veal Tonguewith Mustard, and Salsa Verde ‘Bomba’, Spaghetti with Smoked Eel, and the signature SEPA, which is cuttlefish cooked in its own ink and served with a light potato foam.

Apart from the unique and delicious Venetian fare, guests will also be enticed by SEPA’s authentic interior design, which pays homage to the heritage, history and culture of Venice.  Inspired by the famous Italian play, “Servant of Two Masters,” SEPA’s interior theme revolves around the play’s four key characters,Truffaldino, Smeraldina, Beatrice, and Florindo.  Each of these characters’ personalities are reflected in the intricate designs which adorn the bacaro’s interior, ranging from the prominent golden masks (reminiscent of Carnival of Venice festivities), to the unique terrazzo flooring.  All in all, SEPA’s atmosphere evokes a feeling of warmth and coziness, conducive to guests relaxing over a glass of wine during happy hour, or, for friends and families enjoying a special gourmet experience.

SEPA is located at G/F, 61 Caine Road, within a short 5 minutes’ walk to Central.

SEPA is open daily from 12 noon until late. For reservations, please call (852) 2521-9800 or emailreservations@sepa.com.hk.   For more information, please visit http://sepa.com.hk orhttp://www.facebook.com/SEPABacaroVeneziano.
