Backyard Travel Launches Two New Laos Tours

Backyard Travel, the boutique online travel operator specializing in insider tours throughout Asia, today launched two new Laos tours to coincide with the region’s best travel weather.

Autumn and winter (from September to February) provide the ideal conditions for exploring the scenic landscapes of Laos, with the cooler seasons bringing dry days and plenty of sunshine. These two new tours let travelers capitalize on the great weather with expeditions into Laos’ wildest and most beautiful terrains, from the mountains of the far north to the islands of the south.

The 5-day, 4-night Discover Northern Laos tour departs from Luang Prabang and heads into jungle-covered mountains, with treks to remote villages to get a glimpse of day-to-day hill tribe life. Travelers meet ethnic Kamu, Akha and Hmong, visit hidden temples and take in panoramic mountain views. The trip ends with a leisurely cruise along the Nam Ou and Mekong rivers back to Luang Prabang.

The Discover Northern Laos tour is operated on a private basis with 3-star accommodation throughout, for 1,850$US per person sharing a room, including personal tour guides, premium private vehicles for transfers and daily breakfast. Higher category hotels are available upon request.

The 6-day, 5-night Caves and River Islands tour of Southern Laos showcases the natural and historic attractions of this sleepy, scenic region. Departing from Vientiane, the tour makes its way to Phou Hin Poun national parkland and the famous Kang Lor Caves, then onwards through stunning countryside  to Champasak and Si Phan Don – the 4,000 Islands. Using Champasak as a base, travelers explore Don Det and Don Khone islands via boat and bicycle, with free time in Champasak to wander the UNESCO site of Wat Phou or just cycle around town, soaking up the vibe.

The Caves and Rivers Islands tour is operated on a private basis with 3-star accommodation throughout, for 1, 128$US per person sharing a room, including personal tour guides, premium private vehicles for transfers and daily breakfast. Higher category hotels are available upon request.

Laos is one of the Southeast Asia region’s less-visited countries, but demand for this region is growing, and our two new tours give travelers a chance to get out and explore its most remote locales,” says General Manager of Backyard Travel, Maeve Nolan. “Our tours offer a balance of activity and downtime, immersing nature, culture and history, and, as always, letting them tailor their itinerary to suit their specific needs.
