Backyard Travel, Asia’s most innovative tour company, has today released news of a discount on one of their tailor-made trips to experience the Mekong Delta in Vietnam.

Backyard Travel’s ‘Weaving Through Waterways: The Mekong Delta’ tour can now be taken for less with a 10% discount until 31 December 2013.

The four-day, three-night tour travels from Ho Chi Minh City to Cai Be, firstly visiting the local floating market before continuing to a local factory to see where local goods like ‘pop-rice’ are produced. Travelers then take a cruise to Dong Hoa Island to sample some local cuisine for lunch before moving to Can Tho where they will spend the first night.

The second day of the fully-customizable Vietnam tour cruises travelers to Cai Rang, a maze of floating boats that create a rare and fascinating marketplace. Travelers can shop at the floating stalls which sell an abundant variety of fresh fruits before going to visit the enchanting bamboo basket-making hamlet of Long Thanh.

Day three of the fully customizable tour pays visit to Chau Doc market, which overlooks the confluence of three rivers and is a great place to take pictures as well as browse the bustling market. It’s then back on board the boat for a trip to Chau Giang District to visit a small mosque, catching glimpses of floating houses and catfish farms.

In the afternoon travelers can scale to the peak of Sam Mountain – an important pilgrimage site which offers sublime views of the surrounding plains of both Vietnam and Cambodia.

This Vietnam tour is currently available with a discount of 10% when taken before 31 December 2013.

“The Mekong River is a fascinating resource of great importance to locals and countless communities throughout Southeast Asia rely on the lake for many reasons,” said Backyard Travel’s General Manager Maeve Nolan. “Visiting the river and some of the regions that surround it is a great way to understand the way of life for millions in this picturesque region and we’re pleased to offer this promotion to take this captivating tour for less.”
