Following an extensive local and national recruitment campaign and ahead of its 2 November launch, Bailey, a Crystalbrook Collection Hotel formally announces its leadership team.

 Carl Taranto, General Manager

Carl joined Crystalbrook Collection in 2018 as Rooms Division Manager at Riley, a Crystalbrook Collection Resort and has been promoted to the role of General Manager at Bailey. An accomplished hotelier with more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, Carl has held various leadership roles across luxury hotel groups including Marriott, Sofitel and Mantra. In his capacity as General Manager, Carl is responsible for overseeing a team of more than 150 Collaborators (employees).

Myles Minter, Food and Beverage Outlets Manager

As the previous owner and manager of several well-known Cairns establishment including Society, Odyssey and Rhino Bar, Myles joins Crystalbrook as Bailey’s Food and Beverage Outlets Manager. With his extensive experience in hospitality and business development, Myles is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the day to day operations of the food and beverage venues, including staff training and service delivery.

Tyrone Hunt, Executive Chef

A decorated chef, Tyrone has worked in Michelin star restaurants around the world; held leadership roles both in Cairns and abroad and was a finalist for Australian Chef of the Year in 2017. Having joined Crystalbrook Collection in 2018 as part of the opening team at Riley, Tyrone’s demonstrated success in the kitchen has seen him promoted to the Executive Chef role at Bailey where he manages and oversees the kitchens, staff and menus at the hotels three dining venues.

Kristina Olsen, Marketing and Communications Manager

Having worked in Sydney, Dubai and Perth with some of the biggest brands in publishing, travel and commercial property, Kristina has relocated to Cairns to drive the marketing and communications strategy for Bailey. This includes managing the hotel’s brand development, advertising, public relations, sponsorship, social media and digital strategy as well as overseeing and implementing Bailey’s extensive art and creative partnerships program.

Erin Barnett, Human Resources Business Partner

With more than ten years’ experience in hospitality, recruitment and human resources, including roles in Japan, Canada and most recently at Shangrila Hotel, as the Human Resources Business Partner for Bailey, Erin serves as a link between Bailey’s management team and its 150 employees. This includes overseeing the recruitment, interviewing and hiring of new staff and consulting with department heads on strategic planning, industrial relations, performance management and staffing requirements.

Jaydev Walia, Front Office Manager

Jaydev joined Crystalbrook Collection in 2018 as Assistant Manager with the Riley opening team. Promoted to Front Office Manager at Bailey, Jaydev now oversees all aspects of the Front Office including guest registration, porter services, concierge services, and guest relations. Jaydev brings with him more than eight years of front office experience and has held roles at Double Tree by Hilton and Pullman Reef Casino in Cairns.
