BALLS – Gotta Have’em 100 day pop-up by Pirata Group launches today on Star Street

For the next 100 days, Hong Kongers can enjoy big, juicy, tasty balls – thanks to Pirata Group.  Popping up on Star Street, BALLS serves a menu of quirky meat, seafood and veggie ball creations by Pirata Group’s award-winning chefs alongside a selection of simple starters, desserts and an affordable drinks list.  Heating up the winter months, the casual no reservations and no service charge eatery’s all-day menu is set to draw foodies who just gotta have’em.

Co-founders of Pirata Group, Manuel Palacio and Christian Talpo are having some fun with their team of chefs to create their most adventurous concept to date. “Why build a new concept in 30 days to stay open for just 100 days?” asks Manuel. “Because at Pirata Group, we have balls.”

BALLS’ straightforward menu is split into three sections: Before Your Balls, Our Balls, and All Balled Out.

‘Our Balls’ include TokyoLima Chef Arturo Melendez’ Bolas Latinas (HKD120), which spices things up with Peruvian aji panka red peppers. Chef Alfredo Rodriguez from The Optimist’s Fishballs (HKD140), are a delicious seafood combination of squid and prawns on a bed of fragrant pilaf rice. Pirata Group’s newest restaurant MEATS brings a twist on the traditional with Chef Paddy McDermott’s MEATSballs (HKD110), succulent rotisserie chicken paired with blue cheese and jalapeno relish. Pirata’s famous meatballs are encased in a soft sub with melted fontina cheese in Chef Stefano Rossi’sStefano’s Big Sub (HKD120). Pici Chef Andrea Viglione’s Ste Palle! (HKD130) serves up classic spaghetti and meatballs, with juicy beef and pork balls served with homemade tagliatelle and a spicy arrabiata sauce – vegetarian option available. And lastly, from Pirata Group’s ‘top secret new project’, is the vegetarian Free Balling (HKD85) with falafel, hummus, mint yogurt and warm pita bread.  Tasty ball creations will also be featured on the menus of each chef’s respective restaurants.

Meatballs can be teamed with appetisers including Mozarella di Buffala (HKD90) with juicy cherry tomatoes and peppery rocket and Beef Carpaccio(HKD95) with freshly shaved parmesan.

All balled out? Finish the meal with Sweet Balls (HKD50), moist cinnamon jam doughnuts served with vanilla custard sauce, or the Not Balls (HKD40), soft-serve ice cream with rotating flavours of the day.

The Juggler tasting menu gives diners a try of two appetisers, three balls and one dessert for only HKD248 per person.

With a fun, retro pop themed design and bright interiors, BALLS seats up to 40 people at casual counters and tables with an al fresco terrace. Open forall-day dining and takeaways from Tuesday to Sunday, with no reservations and no service charge. Don’t miss out on Pirata Group’s BALL-sy new concept from 1 November 2017 to 8 February 2018.
