Delegates attending PATA Travel Mart 2015 in Bangalore will be conducting business in one of India’s most exciting and dynamic cities. Now known officially as Bengalaru, the city is the capital of Karnataka state in southern India. The city sits on the Deccan plateau at a height of 3,000 feet, giving its 8.5 million inhabitants and the many business and leisure visitors a pleasant year-round climate.
This year, PATA Travel Mart (PTM), the signature event of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), is hosted by the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka and is being held on September 6 – 8 in the modern, well-equipped environment of the Bangalore International Exhibition Center (BIEC).
It’s an event that last year attracted over 1,000 delegates from more than 60 countries, facilitating in excess of 10,000 pre-matched appointments. This staggering figure reflects the power of PATA’s unique matching process, linking buyers and sellers from across the world to create unrivalled business opportunities in face-to-face meetings for the duration of the Mart.
For sellers, PTM provides the essential platform for making new contacts and cementing existing business relations in a friendly, yet business-like environment. For hosted buyers, it’s an outstanding opportunity to not only attend PTM as a guest of PATA and the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka but also to consolidate and expand product portfolios.
PTM offers so much more. This year, in Bangalore, the programme includes a series of seminars under the heading ‘PTM Talks’ with organisations conducting ‘power’ workshops lasting no more than 20 minutes. Themes for discussion this year in Bangalore include social media, sustainable tourism and marketing skills.
Two important forums are scheduled for September 5 and 6 in advance of the official opening of PATA Travel Mart 2015. On Saturday, September 5, the all-day Investment Forum will feature an impressive selection of expert speakers discussing wide-ranging topics of interest to the international travel and tourism community.
On Sunday, September 6, the half-day Technology Forum, in partnership with Phocuswright, will address the challenges and opportunities facing the industry. Both events take place in the Conference Hall at BIEC.
In addition to the Responsible Travel Pavilion – introduced in 2014 – this year’s PTM in Bangalore features a Technology Pavilion that provides an important business platform for travel technology professionals to feature their products and services to PATA members and industry stakeholders
A complimentary half-day city tour for all delegates takes place from 13.00hrs on Sunday, September 6.
Another highlight of the PTM programme is the annual PATA Gold Awards presentation and luncheon, kindly sponsored by the Macau Government Tourist Office, on Tuesday, September 8. Optional post-event tours begin on Wednesday, September 9.
