Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited (BA) announces its operating results for the six-month period of 2018 with total revenue amounting to 14,061.0 million baht. The net profit was reported at 637.3 million baht, up by 4.5 percent compared to the same period of 2017.

Mr. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, President of Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited commented that, “For the six-month period of 2018, the company has total revenue amounting to 14,061.0 million baht, increased by 4.5 percent which was due to 2.3 percentage growth in airline business, 7.3 percentage growth in both airport business and airport-related businesses, excluding cargo services. The significant increased amount derived from airport related businesses which contribute from rising number of flights landed at Suvarnabhumi airport, together with new airline customers they engaged during the six-month period. In addition to that, the increasing of revenue was from dividend received and gain on exchange rate. As a result, the company’s net profit for the first six-month period of 2018 was reported at the amount of 637.3 million baht, increased from the same period last year 592.9 million baht of which profit attributable to the equity holder of the company was 627.5 million baht. Earnings per share for the six-month period of 2018 was 0.30 baht”

In the second quarter of 2018, the company increased its flight frequency on Bangkok-Mandalay (Myanmar) route from 7 flights per week to 11 flights per week. Moreover, the company entered into codeshare agreements with two more airlines which are Oman Air and Laos Airlines. The new partnership with Oman Air helps facilitate their passengers to conveniently connect with tourist destinations in Thailand such as Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, Lampang, Trat, Sukhothai and Samui. The partnership with Laos Airlines allows the company to provide passengers of Laos Airlines a more convenient and seamless access to and from Bangkok, Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Pakse and to enhance the connectivity between Laos and Thailand. To date, Bangkok Airways has a total of 26 airline partners which contributed revenue from Codeshare and Interline sales channel by 23.0 percent of total passenger revenue.”

Moreover, in the second quarter, Bangkok Airways implemented five new online payment channels which are Line Pay, WeChat, AliPay, Union Pay and an installment payment plan for certain credit card providers, to enhance passengers’ flying experience,” added Mr. Puttipong.
