The action continued into day four at the 12th King’s Cup Elephant Polo tournament in the seaside town of Hua Hin. A fiercely fought match saw the talented Bangkok Bank steal the game from the grasp of last year’s champions King Power. The first chukker saw the polo champions King Power captained by Tom Claytor along with fellow team mate Nattapong Pratumlee and Satid Wongkraso stunned in the first few minutes of play by veteran player and former Olympian, James Manclark, who scored the first goal of the match.

King Power’s Nattapong Pratumlee struck back, trading shots down the field with Claytor yet it was Bangkok Bank’s Manclark who played exceptional defense, wrestling the ball from King Power to give Bangkok Bank a commanding 11-6 lead at the end of the first half.

King Power tried to rattle Bangkok Bank early in the second half with the mesmerising skill shown by Pratumlee to score a nicely placed goal putting King Power in reach of taking the lead with 11-7. Having drawn first blood in the early minutes of the second chukker, Pratumlee’s goal scoring continued, scoring a succession of goals to bring the scores to 11-9 with only three minutes of play left.

Captain Tom Claytor made a valiant attempt to continue King Power’s goal scoring by breaking through Bangkok Bank’s strong defense to get close to scoring, but it simply wasn’t enough. Bangkok Bank finished the day with an unbelievable 12-10 win, ending King Power’s dream of regaining the King’s Cup for 2013.
