Bangkok Demonstrations – Update 19 February 2014

February 20, 2014 Destination Thailand No Comments Email Email

The caretaker government has vowed to crack down on various demonstration sites and will try to reclaim government buildings which are still occupied by anti-government protestors.

This has resulted in several clashes near Government House and we do expect similar clashes in the near future. Most of the Ministry buildings however are located far away from the touristic sites. We continue to advise travelers to avoid all protest sites and surrounding areas, political rallies through Bangkok and other locations or any large-scale public gatherings due to the risk of further clashes.

The main temples, museums and Grand Palace are all located far away in the old part of town, near the river. From the start of the demonstrations we have not had to cancel any tour or excursion in town and no real inconvenience to our guests was experienced. All airports within Thailand are also operating as normal.
