Based on your Personality, Spotify Has Playlists that May Help You From Losing Sight of Your Resolutions

How are your New Year’s resolutions coming along? If answering this question made you feel guilty, don’t worry, because you’re in good – or at least abundant – company. Getting in shape may be a top New Year’s resolution for many but Spotify’s internal data reveals that streaming of workout playlists rises at the beginning of the new year but do level off past February 14. In fact, according to a study published on Statistic Brain, only approximately 9.2% of people achieve their new year goals.

To keep you motivated to your goals, Spotify created a music personality quiz that includes practical advice offered by “Sports Prince” Vince Ng. Spotify quiz may be able to shed some light on your personality, based on your listening habits and personal choices and allow you to understand yourself better. Along with advice from Vince Ng, we hope to encourage our users to live their best lives and complete their goals.

Music can reveal your personality and lifestyle

Music is a ubiquitous companion to our everyday lives. There is a song (or a playlist) to represent each moment of our lives. These moments can be as simple as having a shower before bed or getting ready to sweat it out at the gym. From the Mood Booster playlist to Songs to Sing In The Shower to the Brain Food playlist, Spotify has got you covered.

“Music engages different parts of our brain – emotional, physical and cognitive – all at once and it is a part of how we motivate ourselves on a daily basis. Our musical journey is highly personal and our taste and preferences reflect a lot about who we are, what we are doing and how we feel in any given moment.” says Eve Tan, Team Lead Shows & Editorial, Spotify, SEA, HK & TW.

Eve adds, “Spotify users have real lives; they are focused on health, schedules, work, money, relationships. With that in mind, we understand that with proper curation, music can enhance moods, or change moods. With a team that is spread throughout the world – a dedicated team of global curators, including genre leads, senior editors and editors – Spotify contributes to diversity and cultural sharing of music and trends to deliver the greatest personal music experience to anyone, anywhere.”

Understanding people through music, a recent research initiative has become a key part of Spotify’s data mission. By analyzing how over 140 million people stream on the music platform, Spotify is able to understand how their listening habits relate to what they’re like offline; from their personality traits to lifestyle choices.
