Riviera Travel River Cruises is offering Australians the chance to be amongst the first to cruise through Europe aboard its latest five-star river ship, the MS Geoffrey Chaucer, which will debut in April, 2020. Fares are now available for the all-suite ship’s first year of cruising on the Danube, Main and Rhine rivers as well as the Dutch waterways.

After launching two new five-star river ships in April this year – the MS William Wordsworth and MS George Eliot – the rapidly growing cruise line will launch the luxurious, 169-guest MS Geoffrey Chaucer, on April 2, 2020. In line with Riviera Travel’s tradition of naming its ships after British writers, the MS Geoffrey Chaucer will honour a renowned 14th Century poet.

The new vessel will be Riviera Travel’s sixth all-suite ship and will lift the fleet size to 13 vessels in 2020. Riviera Travel boasts the youngest river cruise fleet in Europe, with no ship older than six years.

Unlike many river ships in Europe, the MS Geoffrey Chaucer will feature two restaurants- a main venue and The Bistro, a more intimate restaurant on the ship’s stem with an open kitchen and panoramic windows, offering passengers a choice in dining.

The state-of-the-art ship will boast a stylish blend of rich, sustainable hardwoods, gleaming brass, polished copper, sparkling glass, intricate wrought iron and beautiful lighting. Features also include a panoramic observation lounge, gym, wellness centre and sun deck with splash pool. Each of the ship’s 88 spacious, deluxe suites will be a minimum of 16 square metres and offer either balconies, French balconies with sliding floor-to-ceiling windows or smaller windows on the lower deck.

“At Riviera Travel River Cruises, we take pride in maintaining the youngest fleet of ships in Europe, and we’re excited to continue this tradition with the launch of the new MS Geoffrey Chaucer in 2020,” said Australian sales manager for Riviera Travel River Cruises, Thomas Morgan.

MS Geoffrey Chaucer will sail on five itineraries throughout 2020, with cabins reserved for solo travellers – free of any supplement – available on every sailing. All fares, including solo cabin fares, are subject to availability:

* Five-day Amsterdam, Kinderdijk and the Dutch Bulbfields Cruise, from A$1599 per person

* Eight-day Blue Danube cruise from A$2969 per person

* Eight-day Bruges, Medieval Flanders, Amsterdam and the Dutch Bulbfields, from A$3199 per person

* 15-day Heart of Europe cruise on the Rhine and Danube rivers from A$6239 per person

* 15-day Budapest to the Black Sea cruise on the Danube from A$6399 per person

Fares include expert-led excursions in every port. As policy, Riviera Travel does not artificially inflate or discount prices and doesn’t automatically include gratuities or drinks in fares, providing guests with choice.

Riviera Travel River Cruises offers five-star cruises across Europe at fares up to 50 per cent lower than river companies more established in Australia, with a selection of supplement-free cabins on every cruise also available for solo travellers as well as exclusive departures for solo travellers.

Riviera Travel River Cruises will carry 45,000 passengers on 13 ships over 300 sailings on 15 different cruise itineraries across Europe in 2020.  Already the biggest river cruise operator in the UK market, Riviera Travel is this year attracting 73 per cent more Australian bookings compared to 2017. The British company first launched its European river cruises in the Australian market in 2016.
