Pirata’s new cocktail menu is sure to quench that summer thirst with refreshing creations and imaginative use of ingredients from yuzu sake to complex vermouth. Whether unwinding with an after-work aperitivo or kicking off weekend revelries, the intimate Italian restaurant and bar is the coolest spot on top of the town.

“For those who don’t know, pirata means pirate, which means we are not afraid to push out the boat,” says Borja Martinez Otero, General Manager. “We created our new cocktails using flavours that remind us of home – like marmalade, thyme, honey and chocolate – and reimagined them in completely different ways. Let our mixologists surprise you!”

As Hong Kong’s first dedicated Vermuteria, Pirata has an extensive collection of vermouth that they love to play with. As well as serving up a killer vermouth the Pirata way (chilled on the rocks with a slice of fresh orange and a juicy olive), the bar team have created imaginative cocktails which brings out the fortified wine’s natural herbal goodness. Pirata’s take on an Old Fashioned, theBoulevard Rye (HKD120), is a smooth drink of rye whisky, Mancino red vermouth, Angostura bitters, cloves and absinthe topped off with a crushed sugar cube and a smoky cinnamon stick.

One for chocolate lovers, the Papa Doble (HKD110) is a deliciously sinful sip of chocolate bitters, Plantation dark rum, Chartreuse, Frangelico and creamy egg white.

For those who prefer a longer drink, the Millionaires Mojito (HKD110) is an upgrade of a classic featuring pineapple rum, a squeeze of lime juice, and a dash of prosecco finished with a bright green sprig of mint.

Another favourite refreshing sundowner is the Garden of Zen (HKD120). Delicate and perfectly balanced, the cooling cocktail is a mix of Hendrick’s gin, yuzu sake, fragrant makrut lime and fresh cucumber.

Pretty in pink, the Enamorado (HKD100), meaning “in love”, is the ultimate love potion, featuring Tempranillo red wine, Monin rose syrup, a squeeze of lemon and cranberry juice and finished with a whip of egg white.

With a tempting selection of Piatti Piccolis (small dishes) available to order at the bar, including Fresh Garden Tomato Bruschetta(HKD55), moreish Arancini (HKD75) and M.M.M (My Mamma’s Meatballs) (HKD95), there’s no need to worry if the night stretches out.
