As always the tournament was staged at Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, which like The Belfry was named the best golf course in its country at the 2015 World Golf Awards.

Winning team members Darren Jones, Mahendra Parmar, Lakhbir Randhawa and Marc Brooks collected their prize from British stage and screen star Denise van Outen, who hosted and played in the tournament, which pitted teams from all over Europe against each other over the Cabell Robinson designed course. The architect himself was another special guest at the event and helped with handing over the prizes.

The Belfry team scored 182 Stableford points over the two rounds, which were played on Monday September 12th and Tuesday September 13th. Second and third in the best-two-scores-to-count tournament were the teams from Mediter Real Estate and Goodwood.

The Belfry and Las Colinas were not the only two World Golf Awards winners represented in the competition. England’s Best Golf Course and Spain’s Best Golf Course 2015 were joined by a squad from Gardagolf Country Club, Italy’s Best Golf Course 2015.

“It’s been great for me to play with everyone in the Copa Las Colinas,” said beginner player van Outen at the prizegiving. “I’ve learned so much, and getting out on the course is the best way of doing that – I’m already sad that it’s over! I’m pretty new to golf but I’ve completely fallen in love with the game so it’s been a pleasure to be here. The course and here is amazing and so is my luxury villa!”

Van Outen is using Las Colinas as her Spanish golfing base this year and spending a week in one of the luxury villas that helped win Las Colinas the accolade of Spain’s Leading Villa Resort.

Also playing in the tournament were Danish television golf commentators Leif Nyholm, who owns a property at Las Colinas, and Henrik Knudsen. Media representatives from Golf Digest Ireland, Golf Monthly and Lady Golfer in the UK, and Golf Aktuell in Germany also took part in the event.

Las Colinas Golf & Country Club would like to thank tournament sponsors enso sushi and TaylorMade for their support.
