With accommodation in short supply during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia next February, Australian travellers can now choose to stay onboard cruise ships docked in nearby ports and chartered exclusively for visitors to the games.
Bentours, Australia’s leading Scandinavian and Russian specialist, has announced it will be selling unique accommodation to 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics fans as it partners with a range of cruise liners, including; the Grand Holiday and the Louis Olympia, docked at the Port of Alder; and the Princess Anastasia and Princess Maria cruise ships, docked in the Port of Sochi.

These two ports are the closest to the Sochi Olympic Village and now with a new train line built servicing the area especially for the Winter Games, Australians will be in perfect positioning to access Olympic locations including; the Russian ski resort, Krasnaya Polyana; and the Mountain Cluster, home to the Biathlon and Ski Complexes, a Bobsleigh Track, a Ski Centre, a Ski Jump Complex, as well as a Snowboard Park and Freestyle Centre.

Sochi is a Russian city situated on the Black Sea coast near the border of Georgia and Russia, flights from Moscow are approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes with the nearest airport to the games being the Sochi International Airport located in Adler, 23 kilometres from Sochi.

The Grand Holiday cruise ship can accommodate up to 1,452 passengers and includes a dance club, lounge, piano bar, library as well as three restaurants to choose from. Prices start from AUD $203 per person based on twin or double share accommodation.

The Louis Olympia cruise ship can comfortably accommodate up to 1,664 passengers and was fully refurbished in 2005. Prices start from AUD $162 per person and are based on twin share accommodation.

The Princess Anastasia cruise ship has rooms available from AUD $162 per person based on twin or double share accommodation options and the Princess Maria cruise ship has rooms available from AUD $202 per person based on twin share accommodation.

Nigel Loveday, Bentours’ corporate director says that the ship hotel accommodation is selling fast, “We are really excited to be able to provide this type accommodation to Sochi Winter Olympics fans coming from Australia. With the shortage of hotel rooms, it is the perfect opportunity for Australians to secure their accommodation with Bentours at great rates and in close proximity to Winter Olympic events,” says Nigel Loveday.
