Air Tahiti Nui has capped off its 20th anniversary year with a swag of awards including best livery for its new Tahitian Dreamliner.

In recent days, Air Tahiti Nui was named Best South Pacific Airline at Global Traveler’s 15th Annual Reader Poll – the third time the French Polynesian flag carrier has taken out the title – and the airline also received the award for best livery at TheDesignAir awards, which celebrate the best developments in design and product within the aviation industry.

In handing the best livery award to Air Tahiti Nui, TheDesignAir Founder Jonny Clark

said the boutique airline was punching above its weight with the livery which was “the embodiment of a design that reflects the roots and culture of the airline’s origins”.

“With a bright, colourful design and iconic ornate pattern filled with symbolism, Air Tahiti Nui’s 787s will certainly capture the imagination of travellers across the globe, acting as an ambassador for Tahiti in all the international ports the aircraft will fly to,” he added.

Air Tahiti Nui has also been recognised for its new safety video at the second edition of French Polynesia’s ‘Trophées de Tourism’. The clip, which was shot throughout the islands and launched onboard the first Tahitian Dreamliner in November, was named Best Tourist Video. Air Tahiti Nui General Manager Pacific Daniel Eggenberger said the awards were great recognition for Air Tahiti Nui in its 20th year and showed the creativity and innovative spirit of the airline.

“These awards are much appreciated by the whole Air Tahiti Nui family after a big year which saw us begin a fleet renewal, launch a new brand, introduce a third cabin and celebrate our 20th birthday,” Mr Eggenberger said.

“Since we began operating our first Tahitian Dreamliner last month we’ve been getting a great response from our customers who love the livery, the comfort of our chairs, as well as our three newly designed cabins. We are proud of the interior and exterior of our new Tahitian Dreamliner, which was designed to reflect the ‘mana’ of French Polynesia.”

The Tahitian Dreamliner’s striking livery features three shades of blue, a giant tiare flower – the largest decal on a B787 vertical fin – and a tattoo pattern representing the Polynesian symbols of strength, freedom, protection, continuity and prosperity.
