Best Western Australasia (BWA) has unveiled plans to continue its fast-paced expansion, reporting it could add up to six more hotels to its portfolio across Australia and New Zealand to total 183 hotels, apartments and resorts in Australasia by the end of 2013.

The Australasia affiliate of the World’s Biggest Hotel Family opened six new hotels in Australia during August and September this year, three properties in New South Wales and three properties in Tasmania, continuing a period of unprecedented expansion for the brand in the past two months.

The BEST WESTERN Ballina Island Motor Inn in Ballina, 20 minutes’ drive from Byron Bay in New South Wales is the newest addition to the hotel group.

Rob Anderson, Best Western Australasia Chief Executive said the group is witnessing an important period of growth, with hotel bookings up 14 per cent over the past winter season compared to the same time last year.

“Across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, the demand for travel is increasing. Over the past three months, Best Western recorded its highest rate of hotel EGT_Artical Banner A 250x250bookings for any winter season to date. As a result, we are expanding our accommodation offering by moving into new regions where people are looking for more opportunities to stay in a hotel that gives them a great mid-week experience or weekend away,” Mr Anderson said.

“Our research shows that holidaymakers and business travellers would flock to updated and better designed hotels. Certainly, we now offer more accommodation options for all travellers with our three hotel types, BEST WESTERN, BEST WESTERN PLUS and BEST WESTERN PREMIER, making it easier for guests to choose the best hotel tailored to their travelling needs.

“Having the different hotel types now gives Best Western the best chance to set a benchmark in the industry for delivering superior customer care, amenities and services which are guaranteed across every Best Western hotel thanks to our global quality assurance program,” he added.

The latest Best Western hotels are all located in New South Wales; the BEST WESTERN Ballina Island Motor Inn (Ballina, NSW), BEST WESTERN PLUS Apollo International Hotel (Newcastle, NSW) and BEST WESTERN PLUS HW Boutique Hotel (Port Macquarie, NSW). The hotel group has also added three new hotels in Tasmania – the BEST WESTERN PLUS Launceston, BEST WESTERN Hobart and BEST WESTERN Foreshore Motel (Lauderdale, Hobart) – giving the brand eight hotels throughout Tasmania’s island state.
