Beverly Hills Celebrates The Year Of The Rooster With The “Happy Chinese New Year – Charming Beijing” Variety Show
Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau (BHCVB), in collaboration with China International Culture Association (CICA) and Beijing Association for Culture Exchanges (BACE) will host the “Happy Chinese New Year – Charming Beijing” variety show and celebration at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills beginning at 8:00 pm on January 21, 2017. This is the sixth consecutive year of Beverly Hills celebrating Chinese New Year with a public event and the third year with the support of CICA, BACE and the Chinese Consulate of Los Angeles. The event, which celebrates the Year of the Rooster and is sponsored by Delta Air Lines, STEFANO RICCI and Two Rodeo Drive, will feature internationally acclaimed entertainment from Beijing.
“Each year, this event attracts more local residents and visitors to the city, and highlights Beverly Hills’ appreciation of the vibrant Chinese culture,” said Julie Wagner, Chief Executive Officer of BHCVB. “By featuring Chinese cultural traditions in a spectacular show and pre-show exhibit, we hope to encourage a greater understanding of China’s magnificent history and, in turn, celebrate the strong bond of friendship which will continue to unite us throughout the New Year.”
The 2017 Chinese New Year event will be divided into three parts – variety show, photo exhibition and a cultural heritage handicrafts display located in the lobby. The variety show will be headlined by the Beijing Performance and Art Group, along with the China National Acrobatic Troupe – an internationally awarded performance group – blending Beijing folk music, opera, modern dance, puppetry and other forms of performance art. The “Charming Beijing” photo exhibition will feature spring festival culture, including 50 paintings reflecting city and folk life, and ancient and modern Beijing cultural customs seen with the naked eye, in 3D and using VR display technology. Joining this showcase will be a vivid display of Beijing’s handcrafting traditions, an invaluable cultural heritage of the Beijing people.
To further enhance these festivities, participating Beverly Hills hotels, including The Beverly Hilton, Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel, Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills, Montage Beverly Hills and The Peninsula Beverly Hills, are offering packages to welcome the Year of the Rooster. The unique experiences awaiting Chinese New Year travelers at Beverly Hills’ finest hotels include in-room treats such as custom slippers and lush bathrobes, Chinese newspapers and a hot water kettle, as well as VIP shopping trips aided by personal luxury advisors featuring exclusive access and chauffeured transportation to the city’s boutiques and attractions.
