In September, the Government of Halong City and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) awarded Bhaya Cruises with the Blue Sail Eco-Label and Certificate for Bhaya’s continuous efforts in environmental protection and efficient use of natural resources towards the goal of sustainable tourism development.
The Blue Sail awarding ceremony was organized by the Government of Halong City at Bhaya Group Cruise Center locating in Tuan Chau Port, Halong Bay. The ceremony was in the framework of the Technical Cooperation Project of JICA with the purpose of “Promoting Green Growth in Halong Bay”. Bhaya Cruises is honoured to be the first pioneer awarded with this eco-label and certificate, which signifies the pledge of commitment to “A Green Halong” and the determination to preserve and promote the value of the World Heritage Site. At the same time, this label has affirmed the leading position of Bhaya Cruises in sustainable tourism development in Halong Bay.

Practicing its foundational principle of sustainable tourism for a positive impact on the environment, Bhaya Cruises follows strictly government regulations on waste and water treatment. We also implement a variety of projects to reduce the carbon footprint on boats, such as limiting the usage of plastic bags, replacing plastic straw with bamboo straw, using towels instead of tissue paper and placing net at the end of the cruise to collect garbage floating on the bay.
In addition, community-based projects for sustainable development have also been promoted by Bhaya Cruises for many years, such as “Save the Langurs”, “Clean the Bay 2012”, “Action for Halong Bay 2013” and Earth Hour. Especially, Bhaya Cruises has participated in the  “Halong Bay – Cat Ba Alliance” program organized by IUCN Vietnam with the support of USAID to protect the natural environment and replicate the positive effects of environmental responsibility for the World Heritage of Halong Bay and Cat Ba island.
