Big Numbers me and Bigger Vehicle for New Fiji Tour

Due to the popularity of Fiji’s newest cultural tour, the Off Road Cave Safari, the company has had to purchase a larger vehicle to transport passengers from the Sigatoka Valley to the Naihehe Cave Caves.

The Off Road Cave Safari, which only began operating in October 2012, quickly realised their ATV’s were not big enough to safely convey large groups of people and changes needed to be made.New Off Road Cave Safari Land Rover

“Due to the increase of interest in the tour and growing passenger numbers, the need for a vehicle that could accommodate large groups and safely transport passengers became paramount. We decided to have a land rover custom built, that could do all of this.” Explains Jay Whyte, Managing Director, Off Road Cave Safari and Sigatoka River Safari.

“The custom building of our Land Rovers are very similar to how we have our custom built jet boats for our Sigatoka River Safari which are unique, original and a whole lot of fun. The spacious Land Rover seats up to 12 people and with its tiered seating enables all on board spectacular views.” Continues Mr Whyte.

The Off-Road Cave Safari came about as a natural transition that complements the existing award winning Sigatoka River Safari.

Passengers are transported across the Sigatoka River on a ‘push-push punt’ where they then meet their Land Rover and head further inland along a rarely used road to the Naihehe Cave. Here they witness first hand and learn about how the cave was once a fortress for a cannibal tribe. The cave still contains a cannibal oven, a ritual platform, a sacred priest chamber and other reminders of its cannibal history.

After exploring the caves a fresh lunch and swim in the river is enjoyed by all, before heading back to the Land Rovers and beginning the homeward journey.

Off-Road Cave Safari operates Monday to Saturday with tours departing at 8.30am and 1.00pm. All prices include lunch and for pick-ups from Coral Coast resorts adults are FJD$239 and children (4 -15yrs) are FJD$110. Prices for pick-ups from Nadi/Denarau resorts are adults FJD$260 and children (4 to 15yrs) FJD$120.
