Big4 Appoints Steven Wright As New CEO

October 9, 2014 Appointments No Comments Email Email

BIG4 Holiday Parks, Australia’s leading holiday park group, today announces the appointment of Steven Wright as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Wright brings a wealth of knowledge and a diverse skill set to BIG4 Holiday Parks, following 12 years CEO experience in a number of high profile tourism bodies, sporting clubs, major events and government based organisations, including:

  • CEO – Tourism & Events QLD
  • CEO – Australian Grand Prix Corporation
  • CEO – AFL Clubs: Richmond FC and Brisbane Lions FC (interim)
  • Senior Associate – Freehills Solicitors

BIG4 Chairman, Ron Cregan, says Wright’s appointment provides a fresh approach to tackling the organisations growth goals backed up by his successful track record in developing and growing companies to increase their profitability, asset base and service levels.

“On behalf of the BIG4 Holiday Parks Board, it’s a privilege to announce the appointment of Steven and welcome him as our new CEO.  His strong practical experience, coupled with his professional qualifications will be a fantastic asset to our brand.  We are eagerly looking forward to Steven joining the group and helping us grow our positioning as Australia’s leading holiday provider.”

Wright takes up the role on Monday 27 October, but will attend the BIG4 Holiday Parks National Conference on the Gold Coast next week, while also visiting a number of parks before his first official day behind the desk.

“I’m really looking forward to this next challenge in my career and joining BIG4 Holiday Parks.  I have previously stayed as a guest and was particularly impressed with the quality and service provided.  The next few weeks will give me a chance to experience a greater number of parks from a guest’s point of view, while also getting to know our park operators,” he said.

Wright says he is joining BIG4 Holiday Parks at a pivotal time in the tourism industry with the recent sharp fall in the Australian dollar providing a strong incentive for Australians to consider holidaying at home, as well as bringing increased focus to Australia for international travel.

“This is a great opportunity for BIG4 Holiday Parks.  One of my first priorities is looking at how we harness this, ensuring our target audiences are aware of our fantastic key products and offerings,” he said.

Steven has a Bachelor of Economics and Law (Honours) and a Masters of Law. He lives in Melbourne with his wife and two young sons.
