In July this year, BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park launched a competition offering the whole park to large groups from bowling clubs and youth groups to probus groups or large families seeking a reunion.

Deniliquin cabins. All they had to do was visit BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park’s Facebook page and submit the reason they needed a break in 100 words or less to be in the running. After much deliberation, this week BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park awarded the free weekend away to a very worthy cause, Heartkids Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales.

Holidays are a great time to get together with family and friends and escape the stresses of everyday life in favour of fun activities and quality time together. However, for some of the HeartKids families, a holiday is easier said than done when they’re dealing with the day to day stresses of living with Childhood Heart Disease (CHD).

Every day six babies are born with heart defects in Australia, more than 2,000 each year. It is estimated that 32,000 children under 18 years old are currently living with CHD. HeartKids supports many of these children and their families through creating positive healing environments in and out of hospital, helping heart children improve their quality of life, helping provide cardiac services with the best possible cardiac equipment and facilities; and investing in research to improve outcomes for children affected by CHD.

Thanks to BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park 22 HeartKids families will enjoy a free weekend at BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 Octoberincluding free cabin and site accommodation along with free kids’ activities.

Park owners Frank and Lynda White holidayed in the park every summer as teenagers, enjoying afternoons on the river water skiing and swimming. Over the years, the couple saw the potential of the very basic site and in 2001 they became the proud owners. Frank and Lynda, along with their business partners Bruce and Glenys Catto, have invested many hours of hard work into their dream until the park emerged into the hallmark destination it is today, helping put the small town of Deniliquin and the Riverina region on the radar. The couple are really excited to share their beautiful park with a deserving group for a weekend away to relax, unwind and enjoy some quality time together.

“The HeartKids families have been through some incredibly tough times so we’re really looking forward to helping them let their hair down and just enjoy a fun weekend away from the world of hospital visits and doctor check-ups,” said Frank.

“We are honoured to be hosting the HeartKids children and families and look forward to making the weekend an unforgettable one with lots of activities and fun planned for the kids,” added Frank.

Tracy Stanley, Support Manager for HeartKids Victoria and Tasmania said HeartKids is thrilled to be offered the opportunity for families to enjoy some much needed respite.

“Our kids are so excited to take what is in many cases their first camping trip. It’s a great opportunity for whole families to get together and enjoy a short break, something they don’t often get the chance to do,” said Tracy.

BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park is planning a range of exciting activities for the families including river cruises on the park’s pontoon boat, craft activities, a pancake breakfast and BBQ sausage sizzle lunch as well as a twilight performance by singer/songwriter Michael Gorham followed by a movie.

In addition to the planned activities, the families will have the exclusive use of the park’s giant jumping pillow, two large swimming pools, mini-golf course, tennis court and go karts.

The riverfront holiday park offers the HeartKids guests a choice of 22 luxury cabins, including a wheel chair friendly cabin, along with 40 powered caravan sites for the adventurous kids wanting to spend a night under the stars, perhaps for the first time.
