The multi award-winning BIG4 North Star Holiday Resort at Hastings Point is an idyllic, family-friendly destination that holds a special place in the hearts and memories of generations of happy holidaymakers from across Australia. Situated only metres from the Pacific Ocean and one of the locations on the legendary Pacific Coast Whale Watching Trail, BIG4 North Star is also close to World Heritage listed National Parks, and was the first holiday park to achieve a 5-star rating in New South Wales
Since the early 80’s, BIG4 North Star Holiday Resort has been at the forefront of the holiday park tourism industry. Their fully accredited Australian Caravan Park Training School was established in 1993 by North Star’s Managing Director Ian Beadel. This program is accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and offers training and study that is immersed in the practical and realistic learning environment of a fully functional and established park.
The park brings over 110,000 bed nights annually to the region and with achievements such as this, combined with North Star’s rock-solid reputation in the industry, prospective caravan park owners, managers and staff have experts in the field to teach them the operational requirements.
The Australian Caravan Park Training School Courses operate at regular intervals throughout the year, One-week orientation courses conducted for prospective caravan and holiday park owners, managers and staff. The seven vital units of competency covered in the course educate attendees on the big picture of caravan park management, adding to a deeper learning experience.
“Our motivation to complete the course at BIG4 North Star was to go give us a broad spectrum of knowledge on how successful caravan parks are run. North Star’s course had been highly recommended to my wife and I by previous course graduates that we met in our travels,” said Gary Curtis, 2014 Australian Caravan Park Training School graduate.
Since completing the course at North Star, Mr and Mrs Curtis have gone on to manage caravan parks across Australia, including a park in northern NSW’s iconic destination, Byron Bay.
“Meeting so many others from all walks of life and regions of Australia who share the same dream as my wife and I was one of the many highlights of the course. “
“Being taught by professionals and industry specialists, who made the fundamentals of Caravan Park management easy to understand, was also extremely empowering.”
“It teaches the basic principles of caravan park management that are a must for anyone considering a career in the industry, such as workplace health and safety, marketing and reservations systems, as well as coping with the peaks and troughs that are inherent in any tourism-based facility,” said Gary.
Mr and Mrs Curtis revealed that completing the course offered at BIG4 North Star enabled the couple to feel both qualified and confident when applying for positions in the industry.
“We felt well educated on the theory and practical applications of the diverse set of skills required to successfully run a park and we were instilled with confidence instead of fear.”
“The very high level of professionalism of the school is truly mind-blowing. To learn and observe every facet of an award-winning, 5-star rated holiday park is inspirational. What better reference point for anyone who wishes to learn this skill set?”
“The team are always there for you, even after your course is completed. To know that they’re only a phone call away is very reassuring,” Gary added.
Courses are priced for both individual and couples and prospective trainees are welcomed to book accommodation on site at BIG4 North star.
