Bollywood Producers gather in Mumbai to meet with Seychelles Minister

Seychelles-TravelMinister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture who was on a working visit to India met with a group of Bollywood Producers at the Hotel J. W. Marriot as soon as he had landed in Mumbai. The Seychelles Minister accompanied by the Seychelles High Commissioner Waven William, CEO of the Tourism Board Sherin Naiken, PS for Culture Benjamine Rose, Chairman of the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industries Marco Francis and Members of the Seychelles-India Association Pravin Darad, Ramakrishnan Pillay (Ramu), Shanmouga Pillay (Kannus), Narendra Raghvani (Nandu) and Narasimhan Ramani.

The Bollywood-Seychelles meeting which had been coordinated by Rakesh Mishra brought together amongst many others: Anil Sharma, Anjum Rizvi, Rafick Shekh, Narenda Goyal, Rajiv Paradal, Aryan Singh, Pahlaj Nihlani ji, Vivek Dixit, Raman Kumar and Som Shekar Verma.

After the traditional of presentation of flower arrangements by the Indian Delegation and the distribution of a copy of a Seychelles Coffee Table Book by Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board to each of the Bollywood Producers present discussions that followed was centred on Seychelles positioning itself as the new set for  the Indian Industry.

“You have filmed everywhere. Your back drop, you have said yourselves, is in need of something new. We are here to say to Bollywood that the new setting, the setting with a difference is Seychelles. We are ready to work with you and tonight I want to leave you with an invitation for a delegation from Bollywood Producers to visit our beautiful islands on a fact finding mission. You have left the best in natural sets for the last, we can only now re-assure you that we have the sets you need to further capture the big-screen viewers” Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles said.

Speaking on behalf of the Film Federation of India, Supran Sen the Secretary General of the Federation said that the fact finding mission to Seychelles by a very small Bollywood delegation would be an essential first step. “We know that your islands are very beautiful and we need to see how we can capture what you have for our coming Indian Films” Mr Supran Sen said.

The support equipment needed for ongoing filming was further discussed and Rakesh Mishra has taken over the responsibility to source a facilitator who will be working with a Seychelles entity to not only provide equipment for the filming sets, but to facilitate needed arrangements on the ground in Seychelles.
