1.More than half of HK travelers crave for unique traveling experience

Vacations are an opportunity to break up your normal routine, to try something new and, sometimes, even let it change your perspective and outlook. Thus, over half of Hong Kong travelers (54%) * plan to stay at least once in a unique accommodation like a castle or treehouse in 2019, which is much higher than the global average of 37%.

Apart from boarding the horizons, travelers also strive to impress their friends, and “Check-in” at distinct accommodations on their social media platforms are able to represent their uniqueness and personalities. More than one of fifth Hong Kong travelers (23%) ** stated that selecting unique accommodations could differentiate themselves from the crowds.

2.Almost half of HK travelers desire to “live” like a local

Living in an authentic accommodation not only allows you feeling like home, but also enables you to discover the hidden gems only local would know about. Almost half of HK travelers (47%) ** believed that staying in a home-type accommodation lets them see areas of a city or parts of a country that they wouldn’t have otherwise explored.

No matter where you come from, to global travelers’, villa, apartment and resorts are very attractive. 30% of local travelers* plan to book a stay in a villa or holiday home in 2019, and an equal share of travelers (30%) saying they would book an apartment.

3.Most value for money! Resorts and B&B are more cost-effective

Aside from allowing travelers to explore destinations like locals, alternative types of accommodation can also offer the opportunity of more affordable travel. Every expenses for the trip counts, air ticket, accommodations, food, shopping and etc – Cost-effective accommodations help to save more money for travelers and the price is always the crucial for the decision-making. 41% Hong Kong travelers** agree that staying in a home-type accommodation allows them to feel that they are getting the most value for their money.
