Bourbon Steak At Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC Reboots Bar & Lounge, Introduces New Head Bartender
BOURBON STEAK is introducing a newly revamped bar and lounge. Returning guests will note some polished touches, such as refinished floors sporting beautiful stone mosaic inlays, and new artwork throughout the space.
Additional booth seating enhances the guest dining experience, along with new leather bar stools that provide visitors a view of the expanded backlit spirits display. The addition of designer couches in the front of the lounge brings the total seating of this contemporary cocktail haven to 60.
“Our goal for this facelift is simple: we want to continue to keep our bar and lounge as fresh and as captivating as it was on opening day,” says Mark Politzer, General Manager of BOURBON STEAK. “I think we’ve accomplished just that.”
Returning guests will also notice a new face behind the bar. Torrence Swain has just been named Head Bartender at BOURBON STEAK, and is now in charge of the handcrafted cocktail program. Most recently, Swain served as head bartender for the Farm Restaurant Group and was stationed at Farmers Fishers Bakers at the Washington Harbour for the past year. No stranger to local produce, guests can expect that Swain’s new creations, which will debut in September, will rely heavily on seasonal ingredients, especially the ones found in BOURBON STEAK’s own 500 square-foot (46 square-metre) outdoor garden.
Additionally, Swain enjoys using ingredients that have personal memories. One of his first supplements to the bar’s current offerings will be the M St. Apple Old Fashioned, featuring cardamom bitters and apple brandy as well as the requisite whiskey and sugar, a concoction inspired by his grandmother’s warm baked desserts.
