Brisbane Lions Players Dedicated To #Getjellified With Icaniwill And Help Children With Special Needs | Fri July 24, Goodwill Bridge
Members of the public and media are invited 12midday, Friday July 24 to watch Rockliff, Beams and Hanley get dunked in jelly, raising awareness and funds for charity ICANIWILL.
Brisbane Lions Defender Pearce Hanley says “Being a part of this campaign is really important to us because it gives us an opportunity to give back to the community, to help raise awareness of a really important issue. Being born with a mental or physical disability shouldn’t mean that you feel like you don’t fit in. And addressing this at school age is really important for future change,” he said. “The mentoring program is awesome. I know how important it is to have a mentor and that’s why I want to lead by example by being a good mentor tothese children. I believe in what ICANIWILL is doing, helping children withspecial needs feel like they are like everyone else – because they are.”
Over 80% of the 4 million Australians living with special needs don’t feel like they can even fit in, lacking confidence to apply or obtain a job. Over 60% of Australia’s homeless have special needs. ICANIWILL are devoted to changing this.
#GETJELLIFIED is a fun way for people, teams and businesses to raise awareness and funds for ICANIWILL. The launch of #GETJELLIFIED with Rockliff, Beams and Hanley will initiate more events, inviting everyone to participate and #GETJELLIFIED by dunking a mate, your boss or the CEO in jelly – and all for a good cause.
ICANIWILL is one of Australia’s fastest growing charities whose purpose it is to bridge the social gap for children with special needs in schools through their junior mentorship programme.
