British Airways adds nonstop service from Fort Lauderdale to London

British Airways today announced that it will offer more direct seats to London from Florida than any other airline, with the launch of a new service between Broward County’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and London Gatwick, beginning 6thJuly, 2017.British Airways already operates from Miami, Tampa and Orlando and this new service, on sale today, will ensure Floridians have increased choice of service, airport and flight time, to meet any of their leisure or business needs.

The route will be operated by a 777-200 aircraft three days a week (four per week during peak summer). The aircraft features 275 seats across three cabins: 48 in Club World (business), 24 in World Traveller Plus (premium economy); and 203 in World Traveller (economy). The cabins have stylish interiors with individual on-demand entertainment systems. On the route, British Airways will provide free meals, snacks and beverages, including a full service bar. Customers can also benefit from a generous baggage allowance.

Colm Lacy, British Airways’ head of commercial for Gatwick, said: “We are excited to be adding Fort Lauderdale to our network. As a city that boasts beautiful beaches, an international yachting scene and easy access to onward cruises, we believe British tourists will flock to experience everything it has to offer. We also believe the close proximity to Miami will give businesses and holidaymakers more choice and flexibility over their travel schedules.”

Mark Gale, CEO/Director of Aviation, Broward County Aviation Department, said: “Broward County welcomes one of the world’s premier airlines with non-stop service to London. British Airways will bring Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport a new option for travel to Europe and beyond with a tradition of outstanding service and a variety of travel amenities.”

A joint business agreement between American, British Airways, Iberia and Finnair allows members of the AAdvantage, Executive Club and Iberia Plus programs to earn and redeem points or miles on codeshare flights across the airlines.  Customers also get access to great prices across all four airlines with the ability to mix and match flights to get the best deals and enjoy smoother connections for onward flights through coordinated schedules.

BA2169 will depart from Gatwick at 09:25 and arrive at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport at 13:45 while the BA2168 will leave Fort Lauderdale at 17:00, arriving into Gatwick at 06:30 the next day.
