British Airways officially unveiled its new lounge at Changi Airport today in a ceremony attended by the airline’s partners, customers, media and VIP guest of honour Lee Seow Hiang, CEO of Changi Airport. Hosted at the new lounge in Terminal 1, guests were treated to a traditional lion dance and the finest food and wine.

Prior to the official opening, Formula 1 superstar Jenson Button was one of the first customers to enjoy the airline’s new state-of-the-art facility as he travelled through Changi Airport.
Looking dapper in a black evening suit, Button took part in a photo shoot in the new lounge for British Airways’ High Life magazine.
Located within the new lounge is the airline’s first ever Concorde Bar, it embodies the finest in British design, style and art. A tasteful and secluded area exclusive to First customers, the Concorde Bar features the digital panoramic views of the Singapore skyline reflecting the time of day, to enable customers to connect to the time of day outside when travelling through time zones.
The main lounge offers an upgraded space to work, relax or dine. What’s more, the lounge is decorated with artwork from established Singaporean and British artists, including Simon Wee and Dr Brendan Neiland.
Speaking to High Life Magazine, Jenson Button said, “I travel a lot with work so it makes a big difference to have somewhere to sit and relax when waiting for a flight, especially straight after a race.
“As the race in Singapore takes place at night, we stay on European time. It’s always a mad dash direct from the track to Changi Airport to get a late night flight to the next race so being able to chill out and have some food before getting on board definitely helps.
“Visiting a British Airways lounge is always a treat as it’s a little bit of familiarity – a sort of home away from home – and the facilities at the new lounge in Singapore are fantastic.”
Robert Williams, British Airways’ head of Asia Pacific sales, said, “Our new lounge caters to customers – like Jenson – who live life in the fast lane. It is specially-designed to be an oasis of calm and tasteful luxury, enabling travellers to work or unwind in a relaxing environment.”
To celebrate, British Airways is also offering its Club World customers from Singapore a complimentary one-way upgrade to First, as well as a £60 (S$120) voucher and a complimentary one way airport transfer for customers who choose to stay at the Shangri-La Hotel, The Shard, London.
The promotion is available on one leg of the flights operated between Singapore and London and is subject to availability. The offer must be booked by 13 October 2015 through travel agents and is valid for travel from now until 31 March 2016.
The one-way upgrade includes all the perks of travelling in British Airways’ First, such as access to the exclusive Concorde Bar in the new British Airways lounge at Changi Airport.
Access to the new lounge is limited to British Airways First and Club World business class customers, British Airways Executive Gold and Silver members, and oneworld frequent flyers with Emerald and Sapphire status. The Concorde Bar is exclusively for British Airways’ First customers and eligible guests.
