Buffalo Tours is proud to announce that they have recently been awarded with Travelife Partner status, a result of their ongoing commitment to sustainable tourism and corporate social responsibility.
This internationally recognized award was achieved by Buffalo Tours for 10 destinations, including Hong Kong, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Buffalo Tours Japan and Buffalo Tours Malaysia are the first companies in these countries that have reached the Travelife Partner award.

Travelife Partners adhere to strict guidelines on labour conditions, human rights, environment, biodiversity and fair business practices. Buffalo Tours has been working closely with Travelife, for a number of years, to develop new initiatives for sustainable tourism, especially in relation to animal welfare in Asia. Together with Travelife, Buffalo Tours helped to develop and pioneer an innovative Elephant Camp Audit that has been shown as successful in improving conditions for elephants throughout the region.

Buffalo Tours are currently implementing several new initiatives that cover all the major pillars of sustainability, including environmental, social and economic aspects.

These include:

  • A guide school program, helping empower disadvantaged youth to benefit from sustainable tourism development.
  • Several initiatives to reduce plastic waste, including refillable water bottles and environmentally friendly wet towels.
  • Incorporating social enterprises into our supply chain across all of our destinations, allowing travellers to easily support local community development.

“By continually developing new initiatives and seeking guidance from international experts on sustainability, we not only seek to improve our own practices, but also hope to inspire others to get involved in supporting responsible and ethical tourism.” Kenneth Jorgensen, Regional Manager for Thailand and Indonesia
