The normally quiet north coast of Bali will burst into music and dance when the Buleleng Festival 2015 takes place from 4 – 8 August. In tune with the theme : The thunderous sounds of North Bali music, there will be tens of art troupes who will perform their dances accompanied by typical North Bali gamelan and music.
Gede Suyasa, Chairman of Buleleng Festival 2015 – better known as Bulfest 2015 – , informed the press on 30 July, that no less than 84 cultural troupes will perform at the Festival who have have been carefully selected by the Office of Culture and Tourism of Buleleng and the Council for the Development of Culture (Lastibya) of Buleleng.
The cultural troupes will appear on three separate locations, these are on the main stage at Tugu Singa Ambara Raja, at the Sasana Budaya and at the Puri Kanginan, Each offer different performances and these will also be different from those brought in the past years at Bulfest.
At the opening of Bulfest 2015 on 4th August, some 20 groups will together give a spectacular rendition of gong kebyar bringing the well known musical accompaniment to the Wiranjaya dance and the Teruna Jaya dance.
To further add to the Festival’s gaiety there will be 46 kiosks selling a variety of culinary delights, a great deal more compared to the 28 kiosks last year.
“If formerly these were placed in front of the Local Parliamentary Building of Buleleng, but with increased popularity of Bulfest, these will now take up the entire road of Jalan Veteran allotted specially for Food stands”.
Although the Festival will be centered around the Singa Ambara Raja monument, there will be no less fascinating side events at the Sasana Budaya Cultural Building and at Puri Kanginan, reiterated Gede Suyasa, who is also Head of the Buleleng Culture and Tourism Office.
