Director Institute Founder and CEO Kylie Hammond recently made the top bid at the ChildFund Australia’s MentorMe charity auction, securing a business mentoring session with Carnival Australia Executive Chairman Ann Sherry.
ChildFund Australia is the local arm of the ChildFund Alliance, a global network that assists more than 14 million children and families in 63 countries. The innovative MentorMe online auction gave successful bidders an hour-long mentoring session with their choice of 10 high profile Australian business leaders, including Ann Sherry.
Kylie recently visited Carnival Australia’s North Sydney head office for her mentoring session with Ann and emerged brimming with new insights and ideas.
“I was delighted to bid at the MentorMe online auction to secure a private mentoring session with Ann, a business leader whom I greatly admire and respect,” Kylie said. “Our mentoring session exceeded all my expectations. Ann was simply amazing, generously sharing her insights, wisdom and views on business, leadership and board directorships.
“We covered a wide range of topics in a short period including the need for skill and gender diversity in executive teams and boardrooms. Ann’s refreshing communication style made me feel very comfortable to ask a range of questions that gave me some practical ideas that I can implement in my business.
“It also left me with some ‘blue sky’ thinking around the bigger challenges that we face in trying to get a wider mix of board director talent into the boardrooms of Australia. Being mentored by Ann on business and leadership was truly special and a very rewarding experience overall.”
Ann Sherry said she was delighted to meet Kylie and to have the opportunity to support ChildFund Australia’s MentorMe online auction. “There is no more important cause than helping to free children from the blight of poverty so that they can achieve their full potential,” Ann said.
Kylie Hammond’s Director Institute — www.directorinstitute.com.au — is the fastest growing network of board director talent, providing members with resources, peer-to-peer networking and education opportunities and exclusive access to board director appointments, which last year placed more than 2500 board directors.
