Carlton Mid Cairns Amateurs Carnival has released a range of exclusive membership packages and event tickets for the 2016 spring racing extravaganza, with organisers expecting sell-out attendance on the back of the outstanding success of last year’s carnival.
Online sales are now open for the 58th edition of the biggest event of the region’s social calendar, bringing all the fun, fashion and glamour of racing to the Far North from Thursday 8 September to Saturday 10 September, 2016.
Those wishing to attend are advised to purchase without delay to avoid disappointment, with strong early sales and members’ areas at capacity for many events at last year’s Carnival.
A limited number of membership options are available until Thursday 30 June, with Premium, Traditional, Thoroughbred and Young Membership Packages each including entry to the black-tie Cairns Amateurs Ball or the President’s Welcome Cocktail Party.
Sought-after event tickets are now also on sale for popular social functions, including the ANZ Cairns Amateurs Ball, Ireland Jeep Garden Party, Ladies’ Fashion High Tea and Yellowglen House.
Patrons booking Cairns Amateurs tickets online before Sunday 1 May will be eligible to win a fantastic prize package from QT Port Douglas, including two nights’ accommodation with welcome cocktails, breakfast and dinner for two at the hotel’s award-winning restaurant.
Far North Queensland Amateur Turf Club president Michael Delaney said the Carnival evolved each year in response to feedback from patrons and the racing community in order to remain the region’s signature event.
“The Cairns Amateurs Carnival continues to deliver a glamorous blend of tropical fun, fashion and racing each spring, underpinned by a continuous history of 58 years of successful events,” Mr Delaney said.
“Our mission is to operate a sustainable and accessible carnival that showcases the social, cultural and commercial attributes of Cairns and the Tropical North.
“We are intent on ensuring the Cairns Amateurs remains the major event in Cairns, providing an enjoyable and memorable experience not only for locals but also attracting visitors to the region,” he said.
Renowned as one of Queensland’s premier racing events, the Amateurs Carnival attracts more than 20,000 people annually to revel in the atmosphere of glamorous fun in the sun as the who’s who of the region converge on Cannon Park to compare track notes and up the fashion stakes.
This year’s Carnival will see the debut of a number of exciting new events, including the Cairns Amateurs Bird Cage premium marquee, party marquees for large groups, behind-the-scenes tours and an exclusive mounting yard
meet-and-greet experience, during which patrons will have their photo taken with the Cairns Amateurs Cup.
The very popular ANZ Cairns Amateurs Ball will again take place at the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal following positive feedback from patrons of the glittering gala event last year.
Cairns Amateurs was inducted into the Tourism North Queensland Hall of Fame in November 2015 after winning Best Major Festival and Event for three years running.
Cairns Amateurs Carnival will be held from Thursday 8 September to Saturday 10 September at Cannon Park Race Course, Cairns.
