Proving the current cruising boom is creating waves beyond tourism, thousands of performers from across Australia will be battling it out for lead dancing and singing roles as part of Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) nationwide audition series commencing in Sydney, followed by Brisbane and Adelaide before finishing up in Melbourne.

Norwegian Cruise Line will be scouring Australia for performers to fill three leading roles and several ensemble cast roles for Australia’s own award-winning musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert – with nearly 60% of on-board talent expected to be sourced locally for the show.  Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is also seeking Australian performers for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Oceania Cruises as well as Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet of 25 ships in total, and will see approximately 35% of local Australian talent performing on board all the ships in the fleet.

“Norwegian Cruise Line is the global leader in on-board entertainment, delivering award-winning musicals, Broadway shows, acrobats and more. We have a dedicated production division committed to sourcing some of the finest talent across the world. We are especially proud that nearly 60% of NCL’s on-board talent is sourced from Australia – creating many employment opportunities and nurturing local talent seeking to combine their passion for entertainment with world travel,” said Nicole Costantin, Vice President Sales, Norwegian Cruise Line.

Australia remains a top talent market for NCL due to the strong work ethic, outstanding technique and multi-disciplinary skills of local performers.

NCLH audition series began in Sydney and will continue throughout Australia over the coming month. The winners of the three leading roles will commence their on-board seasons in early 2018.

The entertainment auditions come just ahead of Norwegian Jewel’s inaugural local season in Australia commencing from November 2017 until February 2018. As part of her acclaimed, expansive repertoire of entertainment at sea, guests aboard will be treated to a raft of cirque and magic shows, parties and comedy performances, as well as Australia’s own award-winning dance production Burn the Floor.
