H.E. Mr. So Mara, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia landed in Seychelles on Tuesday the 21 April and will be heading Cambodia’s delegation for the first time at this annual Seychelles Carnaval International de Victoria. H . E. Mr So Mara was greeted on arrival by Alain St.Ange, the seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, Anne Lafortune, the PS for Tourism, Benjamine Rose, the PS for Culture and Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Tourism Board.
Minister Jean Paul Adam travelled to Cambodia in October 2014, where, as the then Minister responsible for Foreign Affairs, he signed a number of MoUs including one on tourism cooperation. Minister Adam concluded these MoUs with H.E. Dr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism. It was at that time that Minister Adam used the opportunity to hand over the invitation for Cambodia to be present at the 2015 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria in Seychelles.
During a separate meeting between Ambassador Le Gall, the Seychellesm Ambassador accredited to Cambodia and Minister Khon, the possibility of a visit by Seychelles representatives to Cambodia for deeper discussions on tourism cooperation under the framework of the MoU was discussed. Minister
St.Ange accompanied by PS for Culture Benjamine Rose visited Cambodia earlier this year when the participated in the UNWTO and UNESCO conference of the development of tourism through culture and the protection of culture through tourism. The Minister and PS Rose met with Cambodia’s PM and also with the Ministers of Tourism and Culture as well. It was at these meetings that Cambodia confirmed their participation at the 2015 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria that will be officially opened this coming Friday in Victoria.
Bilateral talks will be held this coming Thursday between the visiting Cambodian delegation and the seychelles ministry of Tourism and Culture.
