The 12th International Travel Expo (ITE) 2016 got off to a grand start with a staggering 270 booths this year, with over 400 guests including buyers, sellers, media, foreign consulate officials in Ho Chi Minh City and VIP delegates of CLMTV. The three-day event, from the 8-10 September, will see various initiatives discussed in order to take forward the ‘Five Countries, One Destination’ travel collaboration between Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

Cambodia played host to dignitaries and visitors on the night of the 8th September, at a scintillating function at the Rex Hotel. The tiny country is determined to make its presence felt not only in the ASEAN scenario but at all significant travel conventions.

Pulling no punches to show its commitment to serious tourism numbers, Cambodia has taken a booth stall of a 135square metres at the ITE and provides entertaining cultural performances every day. The tourism department manages to keep the flow of visitors coming with beer and food tasting as well as gifting souvenirs to the ITE attendees.

Cambodia has also underlined its dedication to sustainability by being a member of the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Co-operation Strategy (ACMECS) along with the countries as mentioned above. This forum not only confirms the role, status and accountability of the tourism industry to the environment, but to the community, society and region as a whole as well.
