The Conde Nast Reader’s Choice Top 25 Hotels in Africa 2015 results are in, and the Cape has scooped eight out of 25 of the best, proving that the Mother City is a world-class travel destination, says a delighted Enver Duminy, CEO, Cape Town Tourism.
“These results show that Cape Town is a major player in luxury tourism on the continent, and the jewel in South Africa’s travel crown,” Duminy remarked.
Cape Town achieved three out of the top five hotels.
The seven Cape Town Tourism members that made the prestigious list are:
- Number one hotel on the African continent: Belmond Mount Nelson
- Followed by Ellerman House at number three
- The Twelve Apostles at number four
- Cape Grace at thirteen
- The Table Bay at fifteen
- Spier at eighteen
- And The Taj at number twenty.
In addition, The One&Only came in at number twelve and two hotels in Franschhoek and one in Hermanus also made the cut.

“After a year of challenges, accolades such as these in addition to the announcement that visa and birth certificate regulations are to be relaxed, are encouraging for all our partners in the tourism industry, and we commend our members for the efforts made in ensuring visitors to Cape Town have a memorable experience all year round. We are well-placed to highlight Cape Town as a top travel destination as we head into the high season,” Duminy concludes.
