The readers have spoken and Capella Pedregal has been named Cabo San Lucas’ premier resort for the second consecutive year in Travel + Leisure’s 2013 World’s Best Awards.

Capella Pedregal joins an elite group of hotels, destinations, and companies honored by the magazine in the annual World’s Best Awards readers’ survey. Travel + Leisure has been conducting its World’s Best Awards survey for the past seventeen years.

Set apart by a culture and commitment to highly personalized service and unparalleled luxury, CentaraCapella Pedregal is tucked alongside the Pedregal Mountain. The property only reveals its precious panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean via private tunnel access yet it is still only a five-minute walk from downtown Cabo San Lucas. The resort features 96 rooms and suites, each with their own private plunge pools, spread across a 24-acre estate that offers spectacular Pacific Ocean views and Cabo’s only Beach Front Suites. The resort’s remarkable collection of over 100 pools include beach front infinity pools which offer views of the ocean, creating a memorable setting for discerning travelers.

“It is an incredible honor to work with such a dedicated staff that truly loves what they do,” says Horst Schulze, CEO and Chairman, Capella Hotels and Resorts. “Our entire staff, from the Capella Personal Assistants to the highly decorated team members within our Auriga spa and Culinary departments are constantly innovating to deliver the highest possible level of experiences and services to our guests. Undoubtedly this level of focus has helped us to achieve our second consecutive Travel + Leisure World’s Best Award.”

The Travel + Leisure accolade is a key addition to other recent awards including recognition as a 2013 AAA Five Diamond Award Winner; Condé Nast Traveler’s 2013 Gold List; A U.S. News & World Report Gold Award Winner in 2013 for Best Hotel in Mexico; 2013 Trip Advisor Circle of Excellence Award and #1 Spa in the World by Travel + Leisure in 2012.

The resort’s Auriga spa is home to eight treatment ‘pods’ which overlook a private salt water pool surrounded by cascading waterfalls where guests can engage in a leisurely post treatment swim. Designed by renowned spa designer, Sylvia Sepielli, the 12,000-square foot spa also offers treatments created by UK-based Organic Pharmacy and reflects the different phases of the moon, based on the energies of the lunar cycle and integrating local flavors such as mango into their signature treatments.

Each Capella hotel crafts a selection of services that are locally influenced and aimed at creating a memorable guest experience – a key Capella brand characteristic. Capella Pedregal features indigenous flavors and cultural activities that make the hotel a true Baja experience.  Cooking classes are offered in Su Cocina, the traditional Mexican kitchen setting adjacent to Don Manuel’s, where guests can try their hand at creating their own ceviche or other signature Capella dishes alongside a chef. Vertical wine tastings and sampling flights of in-house aged tequila can also be arranged for guests; taking them on a journey through the rich offerings of Mexico’s libations.  Guests can even take a tour alongside decorated Wine Director, Juan Carlos Flores through the property’s wine cellar which features a large collection of specialty wines from Mexico and around the world.

The Capella Pedregal culinary team is not only dedicated to bringing guests a constantly evolving menu derived from the freshest local ingredients available, but they are also passionate about impacting and shaping Baja cuisine. The hotel’s culinary team is comprised of Food and Beverage Director Marco Bustamante and Executive Chef Yvan Mucharraz (both trained under legendary Chef Thomas Keller), as well as Wine Director Juan Carlos Flores.  Capella Pedregal’s three distinctive dining establishments feature refined Mexican dishes which evoke a true ‘Baja’ feel. The signature Don Manuel’srestaurant is named after the hotel owner’s family patriarch and is located at the heart of the resort. Cuisine at Don Manuel’s uses local organic ingredients grown specifically for the resort, prepared using modern interpretations of old world techniques. El Farallón, Spanish for “a rock that comes out of the ocean,” is a sophisticated restaurant where fresh fish specialties are served in an alfresco setting suspended over the ocean. This casual seafood venue features a “catch of the day” menu enabling guests to choose from fresh fish caught from local waters. Guests looking for lighter fare can experience the Crudo Bar, Spanish for Raw Bar, underneath a large poolside palapa.  Whether it is fresh oysters, ceviche, crudos (a shashimi style dish) artisanal rolls with a Mexican twist, Crudo bar is the perfect place to enjoy a meal or a snack while lounging poolside.  The Beach Club is an informal, pool-side dining venue serving Baja coastal favorites.
