Captain Cook Cruises Fiji’s marine advisor and Fiji business partner, Commander Semi Koroilavesau, has won the Visionary Award for his vision in helping to create the amazing experiences Captain Cook Cruises offer in Fiji, at the ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards held recently in Fiji.

Commander Semi founded Captain Cook Cruises Fiji in 1993, before the current owners bought into the business in 1996. Commander Semi retained ownership in the business and worked alongside the Haworth family growing Captain Cook Cruises Fiji into the successful business it is today.

Commander Semi researched and developed all Captain Cook Cruises Fiji’s itineraries including the remote 11 night Lau and Kadavu itineraries, spending years negotiating and working with village communities to put together unique itineraries to the most remote and beautiful parts of Fiji.

In 2010, Commander Semi was appointed Managing Director of Captain Cook Cruises Fiji, in 2013 he was appointed Chairman and in 2014 he became Executive Chairman.  In September 2014, Commander Semi was elected to Parliament, resigning from the Captain Cook Cruises board, and was appointed the government whip. Soon after he was appointed to the front bench as Minister for Labour and in October 2015 became Fiji’s Minister for Fisheries and holds this position to date.

“I would like to thank Captain Trevor Haworth and Geraldine Haworth, founders of Captain Cook Cruises, their children Jackie, Anthony and Allison and their families, for all the assistance and support over the years.” Said Commander Semi Koroilavesau.

“Also thanks to the big Captain Cook Cruises family in Fiji and Australia, for becoming part of the Haworth and Koroilavesau family over the past years.

Both Trevor and Geraldine would have been proud of Captain Cook Fiji’s achievements especially the latest award passed to me on your behalf.” Continues Commander Semi.

According to Jackie Charlton, Captain Cook Cruise’s Australian Managing Director, “all Captain Cook Cruises Fiji staff are so happy for Commander Semi and I know my father Trevor Haworth, Semi’s partner and mentor would have been very proud that he won such a deserving award. “

He is such an instrumental part of our business and is always looking to expand the company’s horizons by exploring a new and untouched part of Fiji.” Continues Mrs Charlton.

Captain Cook Cruises Fiji operate three, four and seven-night Yasawa Island and Mamanuca cruises, a seven-night Colonial Fiji Discovery Cruise and 4 Cultures Discovery cruise, eleven-night Lau and Kadavu Discovery Cruise, Tivua Island Day Cruise, Sunset Dinner Cruise and the new Lazy Lunch Cruise.

All accommodated cruises are aboard the 130-passenger, newly refurbished MV Reef Endeavour cruise ship. Purpose built for cruising the beautiful islands of Fiji.
